It is more about technique and tactic than just pure athletic. The guys which the better technique are gliding more through the water and saving energy.

@@barrylyndon80 Yup, this is more like road cycling than running marathon. So there's breakaway swimmers that are often caught by the peloton.

Funny to see how unspectacular the event as well as the athletes are about themselves. It just comes down to how spectacular a sport is to watch for the average Joe, and let's be honest, swimming, as well as running and even cycling is boring af to watch for most people. The sad part is, directly connected to the amount of spectators is the amount of sponsorship and salaries. These athletes are much more capable physically than most Basketball players, F1 drivers, football players etc. but they earn a fraction of the money and attention they deserve for their achievements. Anyway that's just the way it is, ok bye ^^
