Hi, great video! One question to do with the concrete - looks like the is no rebar in the concrete, is it not necessary?
@jonport_3 ай бұрын
@@zvithalerable its a vinyl liner bottom so its not really necessary.

Wow! You do some beautiful work. I last saw a vinyl pool years ago. What I remember is that it looked "cheap." It looks like the vinyl pools have gotten better. Are the vinyl pools now just as professional looking as the gunite and fiberglass pools (assuming quality install)? Thanks! Again, beautiful job..

@@boeing757pilot thank you. It all depends on who builds them.

@jonport_ Thanks! That's what I thought. It's more about the quality of install rather than vinyl vs. others.. Thanks for your reply!

Beautiful pool. I am building my 20x40 right now and wondering what you do for your threaded pvc fittings to ensure no leaks in the buried plumbing like main drains, returns and skimmer bodies? Sealant or tape ? I can’t understand why Hayward and others put threaded connections on some of these parts like the main drain bodies. They need to incur some trauma to the groin for some of these designs. Just invites leaks. Lastly it looks like you have nice ground for your excavation. Do you ever encounter shale conditions sometimes where the deep end becomes rough on the slopes? How do you manage that and get a smooth pool base layed down? Thanks

You could primer the threads like you would a regular fitting and hand tighten it till it doesn’t go no more I would recommend using a medium body cement. Give you a couple more seconds a time if you need to use it to tighten it up just a little. You can’t see it but on this pool, the wall deteriorated over the winter about a foot and a half so we had a massive crater to work with. But we just use a really dry grout mix with fibers in it and keep on stacking it.

@@jonport_ thanks for responding that is very helpful. I was thinking of gluing the threaded fittings that will be permanent but wasn’t sure how it affects the threads but I suppose it just melts them all together. I just don’t want any leaks on this buried piping and was even thinking of deleting the main drains, but finally decided to go ahead and do it. That is a good tip on smoothing the slopes before the pool base goes down. I am not an expert on any of this

@@joejim2963 anytime. We’ve always glued our threaded fittings so you’re good there. we set up string lines per our dig sheet and use screed Eto make it perfect from the pool to the line. whether there’s foot and a half hole or not we fix it the same day we do the bottom. But I have a special mix design for us where we are so it just depends on what you are working with.

Corner seats in deep end are great, and smaller kids can stand on them, I grew up with my next door neighbor had a pool of almost exact shapes, less the stairs, and the corner seats, I can’t remember how often you found the deep end uncomfortable because there was no where to stand,or sit for any reason..

@jonport_6 ай бұрын
A build like thus should take about 4-8 weeks. It took a whole lot longer because we started it in the winter.
