I think your cone system is a good way to determine if a leak is present in the under ground intake / return lines. My question is if an under ground pipe is leaking how do you determine where it is exactly?

Hi my pool has oldfasioned floor vents that are fixed and can not be sealed off how can I detect a leak in them please help I am going crazy . My main drain was plugged off when I bought the house so the only water flow is through the skimmer return and the floor sweepers are my returns they want 500 bucks to come out and look at it.

@@leakboy The biggest issue is 'fixing' the cracked pvc ..How would i know where exactly to dig to get to the crack ?

Good video. DO you use the cones instead of pressure testing, or in conjunction with pressure testing? Is that a hydrostatic valve at 3:28?

Pressure testing is the best way to see if that system your testing is secure.dye testing work on Evidently broken pipe .

Pressure testing is difficult because the plugs have to fit perfect and your testing equipment cant leak a drop. That's a lot to ask from an old pressure rig sitting in your van for a year. I prefer the cones- they are very accurate- I always ask my customers to leave the pump off the night before I arrive so the foundation under the pool is not flooded with water and giving me false readings.

The cones are isolating the pool leak to the plumbing- it is difficult to see if all the pipes are open and there is a lot of current in the water.
