They are awesome, I use them every single day too, I pressurize the pipes though, but they helps you a lot, mostly when you wanna find a bad check valve

Im glad you like them. but spa jets are tough to pressure test, taking some of those jet nozzles off is not very fun.

The cold snap we had in the mid to high 30's like 5 yrs ago caused my water fall to leak, they fixed it but we had another cold snap winter where again it was in the mid high 30's and now we have another leak in the same water fall line ... So for now i just shut the valve off to that pipe to stop the leak until we can get someone out to check it.

What size diameter is that clear tube that comes with the cones? I purchased those cones but they did not come with the clear tube.

We added the tube and also a funnel. Actually the cones we produce now are nearly 1/2" larger to fit better in larger bottom drain pipes. we completely discontinued the smaller size so where ever you order them you will get the bigger ones.

Greetings. I purchased your kit on ebay a few months ago because I’m having doubts of the repair I had recently in November. My tee on the skimmer was leaking due to age and being copper so I had the skimmer replaced and the plumbing to pvc. All my plumbing is underground so you could imagine how much I payed. Everything seem to be ok I think during winter but now as the heat started happening, I noticed my water line going lower. I told the pool guy that did the work and he came to do a leak test with pressures from the motor to skimmer and said everything looks ok. He said it’s just evaporating. Ok. That’s when I purchased your kit to perform my own test around the lights etc. everything seem good but the main skimmer. I did the test on the main skimmer line and noticed ink getting pulled slowly. I send the video to the tech and he said that totally normal. I’m like how can that be normal if ink is going inn. It’s definitely getting pulled. He said “ my job was done right so I will have to charge $300 again to do another test. I put things on hold and hired another pool detector guy , I told him my situation and perform a leak test all over the pool. He actually jumped inn with a gear test with ink and said so far skimmer, light and returns are good. Mean while he had air pressure on the entire plumbing system and said it been on 16 psi for 20 to 30 min and hasn’t drop. So he claimed everything seems good. Then I told him to explain how the heck ink is getting pulled inn slowly on the main line. He said something about it’s normal for that to happen, air supposedly of backing up etc. I just can’t bug it. Can you please tell me if that is possible ? I have a short video of the my test with your cones giving me results , I truly believe theres a tiny leak left behind from the installers, and your cones is proving it. I would truly appreciate your advice and if you can identify the test video I did.

Great product. Have used with good success. But recently, at a in ground pool/spa combo, I isolated spa and dye pulled extremely fast indicating a leak in return/jet line. I wanted to back this finding up so I pressure tested spa lines. They held. No leak what so ever. I figured that perhaps one of my plugs could be covering the actual crack in pipe so I pulled plugs and re-positioned them so they where now just barely inserted but still able to hold pressure. I pressurized to 15 pounds and they held. I thought I would run one more different type test so I removed all the plugs, put system in spa- spa mode and ran it for 3 hours. Water level never dropped. I had the same thing happen a few years back in a return line on a pool. What could be causing this false positive dye test? I understand convection and thermal dynamics but this dye pulled so strongly in spa that I completely ruled this out as a possibility. Any ideas would be most welcome.

I would say a bad check or jandy valve was the real problem. an inline chlorinator will rot the rubber in a Jandy diverter valve. A quick test is run the pump with the spa diverter valve off and dye test the cones and see if they are blowing out slightly.

Any bad check valve will draw dye backwards from the spa into the pool.and you should always shut the valve to the spa pipes off to test with the cones. To question if the spa valve is good or bad, shut the spa valve off and run the pump with the cones in the spa jets (with the poolside valve open). if the dye blows out the cone slightly then the valve is bad. If the cone draws dye when the valve is off and the pump is running then the pipe is broken
