Swimming pool rebar rust removal with rust inhibitor cement and white plaster fast set.

In this video, we show you how we did swimming pool rebar rust removal. We use rust inhibitor cement and white plaster fast set.
We use EZ Patch #7 with rust inhibitor. This cement is formulated to prevent rebar rust from bleeding through to the plaster. We finished it off with EZ Patch #1 fast set to match the surrounding white plaster. The surrounding plaster had a blue tint from copper sulfate stains so it does look much brighter than the surrounding plaster. Eventually, it will fade and match the surrounding white plaster.
We recommend repairs like this to be left to pool professionals only but as you can see it is not the most difficult repair. It is very easy to ruin a pool shell. Homeowners should consider the risk of ruining the pool further before taking on the job for themselves.

Humm.. not sure why you didn't show how you had cut out and removed the rusted rebar or if you used this rust inhibitor only.. guess I'll look for a different video

The video shows how we chipped the plaster away. We did not remove rebar we covered it with EZ Patch Rust inhibitor. Grinding away at the rebar would definitely cause stains as the metal debris from grinding would leave small rust spots almost immediately all over the pool. After we applied the EZ Patch Rust inhibitor we used EZ Patch #1 fast set for a matching white plaster on top.

Thank you for the reply and I see you also list the products used :D I had thought there was no way around cutting out the rebar that was too close to the surface, however after your reply I can see this is a somewhat simple repair that I can do myself if the repair estimates come in to high..
