People don’t usually bathe their cat because they clean themselves, you should only bathe a cat when their fur is too long and there is a mess they can’t get out themselves. I don’t see anything on the cat in this video, but you shouldn’t wash your cat for no reason because they get stressed. I don’t see a stressed cat in this video, it seemed to really enjoy the bath.

Remember guys, you don’t need to give a bath unless it’s COMPLETELY NECESSARY, seeing as they can clean themselves and do not appreciate being wet lots of the time, but if it is a cat with lots of thick or fluffy fur, then it’s best to give them a bath at least once every 1 or 2 months

I do it every 6 months or longer for our elderly 15 year old cat. Believe it or not, she enjoys the warmth of the water, the body massages, and assistance. (She has a hard time reaching on her back end). I started this when she was a tiny kitten so she wouldn’t be afraid of water. Now, she walks around slowly in the water (like Hosico Cat) and tries to get in when I take a shower. She also sees the bathtub as a water source (drinks from faucet). In fact, she just jumped out of the (empty) garden tub as I write this because it’s cool on her belly. 🙄

My youngest doesn't mind still water or slow running but he's terrified of the shower and he gets so stressed out when I'm in the bath that I have to leave the bathroom door open and he watches me from the hall. If he can't see my head he comes right in checking on me. I would lose limbs if I tried to bathe my eldest cat though 😂

The cat IS suffering. British Shorthairs are simply a docile breed. This bath is a stressor for the poor cat.

@@abulahab6528 he’s not a shorthair. He’s a Scottish Straight which is a breed with short, thick fur and rather delicate skin. The oils can build up, mat the fur together and pinch the skin painfully. Also fleas love to hide in the dense fur and bite the thin skin which can cause infection. They need a bath every 1-2 years to keep everything in check. They are also very calm, easygoing cats and the stress of one bath a year will not harm him. Fleas and matting will require a vet visit which will be more stressful.

@@abulahab6528 fleas are definitely a possible factor. Matting is a way bigger problem. I’ve dealt with way to many (indoor) cats with severe skin infections because the fur became too matted to brush. And most salons don’t treat matted fur so it will be a veterinarian visit.

I know this is a little late but if you train cats with water at a early age they then won't mind it. it's just that at later ages it's then an unusual and strange unknown to the cat, though you could still train them to get them used to water it just won't be easy.
