Great info, Steve. I'm lucky enough to have a lanai cage that keeps most leaves and debris out of the pool. After hurricane Ian, My wife and I rebuilt and upgraded our home. We switched to a salt water system and purchased a Dolphin CC Plus vacuum. I kick myself now for waiting so long to do so. The salt water system is great at keeping our numbers where they should be. Occasionally we add a small amount of salt or Muriatic acid. That's about it. The Dolphin takes an hour or two of work away from us each week. It does a fantastic job cleaning the pool and is simple to operate and clean the filters. I recommend the ultra fine filters for the Florida cage homes. Especially ones with pavers that use sand in the gaps. With the Dolphin, I find we need to clean our pool filter less, too. The Dolphin collects tiny particles that would have ended up in the filter. As always, thanks for your fantastic videos!

Hi Steve can you do a deep dive on the last topic? A lot of my customers get confused about the starting pressure. Your example talks about an inefficient system but the same is also true on an efficient system - the back pressure in the plumbing is not giving you an idea of how the filter media is performing.

I was able to extend the cleaning of my cartridge filter by a factor of 3 since using filter socks. They catch all but the finest particles without increasing pressure or decreasing flow. The pump pre filter now stays completely empty and the cartridge itself washes out much easier. Cartridges lasting 3x as long which is a HUGE cost savings. A pack of 30 only costs $12 and will last over a year. You can rinse them out 3-4 times before they start to wear holes. One in the skimmer basket. One in the in-line leaf catcher of my Kreepy Krawley. Game changer

Very interesting video Steve. I have been watching videos where people have fibreglassed a concrete pool. Could I have your thoughts on this please?

I do not endorse these products. I have seen too many field failures which then costs a load of money to strip and resolve. If you have a concrete pool then a concrete based interior surface is what I suggest.

I'm regards to the filter pressure. I have a pool that is plumbed in 2' , but the only return line is the popup controller, and those lines are 1 1/2'. Even after cleaning the filter the pressure is around 30. There are also a lot of 90s due to the heater. I was not around when the pool was build, so I do not know what the pressure was then. I have sold the homeowner on new cartages, so maybe after I put those in, it will come down. Not sure what else I can do to get the pressure down.

A good check is to temporarily remove the cartridges and check pressure.

This is the correct answer here.

When checking system pressure what speed do you run the pump at?
