We hope this helps you lower the chlorine in your pool! Remember, your sun and time can be your best friend to lowering levels naturally. And we highly recommend investing in an in-skimmer mineral sanitizer to supplement and help reduce your need for chlorine! Hello I found a bunch of black little dots that resemble black paint that don’t scrub off. Leslies told me to shock with 2 lbs of Chlor Brite, wait 24 hrs and add black algae killer. Why would my chlorine show 0 after adding the 2 lbs of chlor brite? It was supposed to spike it? 20,000 gallon vinyl. I also added 25 lbs of calcium hardness plus.

So...if I got overzealous with my chlorine adding and put 3 tablets in my floater instead of the 1 my pool needed how can I fix this? Do I just pull the floater out of the pool? Close the floater vents? Also, I need to worry about the off-gassing from the wet tablets in the removed floater?
@drdrew39 ай бұрын
Remove the floater and test every 2 days until back to desired range. Be carful where you store floater because fumes and leaks very concentrated chlorine. Put it in a bucket away from kids and pets

Salt water generators (SWG) do NOT monitor anything. That's just untrue. They will just generate chlorine based on whatever percentage you set them at. If you want to "monitor" sanitizer levels you need pool automation solutions like intellichem (pentair) or sense & dispense (hayward) or similar. These tend to use ORP sensors which are NOT very good at measuring sanitizer levels. Plus they are expensive. There are solutions out there that actually use DPD methods to measure the water that you might find in some commercial pools, but they are crazy expensive solutions.

Question : how to lower chlorine level in the ocean water pool ? Also use Sodium Thiosulfate ? will it increase salinity ? 🙏🏼
@SwimUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Assuming you’re keeping levels the same as you would a salt water pool, your best bet is to try the first few methods first. Then sodium thiosulfate if needed. It’s very easy to over do it!

When using sunlight to reduce chlorine levels, is it better to keep pump running or let water sit still in direct sunlight

I have just tested my spa water. free chlorine is on the higher side of ok. the Ph is in the middle range and the alkaline is also in the middle so water is pretty balanced. do I now add my chlorine dispenser with tablets. wont this sanitize but really increase my balanced water
@rickylanding83796 ай бұрын
No because if its an outdoor pool after a couple days the sun will evaporate your chlorine anyways the dispenser will feed it as the sun eats it see what im saying 😁

Hi! My CC is 12 and FC is 3. How many gallons of chlorine for a 20,000 gal pool? My kids haven't swam yet this summer.😢 Thanks!!!
@SwimUniversity3 ай бұрын
Have you tried adding non-chlorine shock (oxidizer) to the water? That'll break up combined chlorine.
@enj0ythesiIence3 ай бұрын
@@SwimUniversityyes! I actually did that thanks to your videos but it didn’t work. Perhaps it wasn’t enough to hit breakpoint. 18 hours ago, l added 4 gallons of liquid chlorine. The FC was higher last night when I tested and now FC & CC are looking even at 20. Pool is milky white. I cleaned my cartridge this morning and also used ph reducer as my level is 8.4-9ish. I'm just checking in to see if I'm doing things right and if my levels are looking like I hit breakpoint. I’d love my lil ones to finally swim! Thank you! Love the vids!

What about free chlorine levels. My pool is cloudy. It had algae and I got rid of it but now it’s cloudy. Chlorine is 5 and free chlorine is 10 using the Clorox test strips.this is a 5,500 gallon above ground pool
@mindhive-twitch41312 жыл бұрын
By what you're describing, that's caused by very high combined chlorine (the used up chlorine). Combined chlorine is what gives off that strong chlorine smell and it is not good at all for you. Usually combined chlorine should be 0-.5 ppm ideally. Pool places would recommend a healthy dose of pool shock, probably starting at 2 pounds if your total chlorine and free chlorine are still around this level. They sell the non-chlorinated pool shock but it is not cheap compared to the cost of Cal-Hypo shock (standard pool shock). The non clorinated shock can also address the high free chlorine levels somewhat by oxidating some the extra free chlorine.

Does chlorine neutralizer work with bromine treated hot tubs?

No. But spas burn off bromine extremely quickly if you remove floater and run pump with cover off for a few hours. Usually back to normal range the next day because such a relatively small volume of water are high temp

I use about $5.00 a week in chlorine. SInce I don't chlorinate year around, that works out to about $700 in chlorine in 5 years, about the same cost as a salt water chlorine generator. Since the generators only last 5 years that cost breaks even. Well, if it wern't for the fact salt water generators seem to double the muriatic acid use. Plus its a pain in the butt to clean the generator once or twice a year. Salt water generators also means you can't use pool backwash to water plants. I had a salt water generator on my last pool, I would never go through that hassle again.
@jimkline62853 жыл бұрын
Why do you say you can't use the backwash water to water plants, usually the salt level is not high enough to cause issues, is it?
@datsuntoyy3 жыл бұрын
@@jimkline6285 there is enough salt in normal tap water that builds up over time to do damage. It doesn't take much. If you live in a place that rains alot and has well draining soil, you may be able to get away with it if infrequent. Google "salt burns on plants"
