I recall the main strat being that Li Zongren has to lose its civil war for 50xp and you can later directly annex guangdong directly. Also, either go equipment or commander buffs, never go manpower route.

This is a real alliance proposal made by promethean polish elements during the 1905 Russo-Japanese war. Several polish leaders went to Tokyo to negotiate the possibility of an alliance, in case of a greater polish uprising, what they hoped would lead to a general uprising from several other oppressed minorities under the russian thumb. The japanese were interested in the deal first, but later abandoned it, after they started winning the war hard. Though polish resistance received some monetary support from the japanese and most of that money went into purchasing weapons and funding underground training camps, what came to be useful when Austria and Germany started to enlist polish freedom fighters into their free polish army.
