Every video you put out is my cup of tea Sandy, I have vivid memories of that hideous roundabout. A rough climb indeed Sandy. I'm new to E-bikes, purchased a class two Rad Rover, which has throttle assist . It is very handy when starting off on hills, and when walking bike over the rough. I'm amazed at how much enjoyment I've gotten from the E-bike. I'm getting over 50 miles per charge, running in the lowest assist. It is nice to be able to dial up added assist levels to bring you back home. I Like'em !

Bridleways like that are best left in their natural state with perhaps some sympathetic maintenance. There'd be no challenge otherwise. Snowdonia National Park in their wisdom decided to "upgrade" a bridleway from Capel Curig over to Llyn Crafnant in North Wales. They basically turned a beautiful old route over the hills into a surfaced highway.

@@WiltshireMan apparently the Snowdonia National Park had some extra funds that had to be used before the end of the financial year. You'd cry if you were to see it, tons of aggregate that sticks out like a sore thumb, some stone pitching and drainage were all that was needed. On a positive note, I bumped in to two Belgian mtbers in Gwydyr Forest last week, they were enjoying what Wales has to offer. I've been checking out the black dotted lines on the 1:25000 scale map (old mining trails) great fun away from the madding crowd 🚲

I believe it is also called "Ladder Lane". It is very steep at the top, with lots of tree roots. I don't think I've every made it from the bottom to the top in one go, despite a number of attempts on a (non E-)bike. I find the descent pretty hairy with the steepness, ruts and tree roots, but my 17 year old loves it. The field before the climb is pretty much impassable if the ground is wet.

I know they aren't legal in the UK but getting up twisting muddy trails -- especially from a dead stop -- is the real utility of an ebike throttle. They save your knees. Some people use them to zip around without pedaling but I don't see the sense in that. Get an electric motorcycle if that's what you want to do. E-bike throttles are best at delivering a short burst of torque when you need to pull out of a rut and get across an intersection quickly or to avoid a car. This is especially true with heavier ebikes like cargo ebikes when they are loaded with groceries and kids.
@WiltshireMan

Well done! That was a tough challenge, wasn't that Mandy behind you at the beginning?

Yes, that was Mandy, she cycled part of the way then peeled off to go shopping.

Hi Chris I've not really thought about what it might be worth, don't know! New they are £2700. It's a nice bike, I'll probably regret selling it if it went. @@chrisdeane-w6q

@Wiltshire Man I get sore hands if I don't wear them. BTW I'm from Trowbridge, and I'm 60 this year as well. I ride an interceptor, I will introduce myself if I see you at a 🏍 meeting. 😎

It’s bad enough walking up there let alone cycling. Not been up there for sometime. May have to go for a bimble.

I think it will last quite well, sofar no problem and around 250 miles on the clock. The Bafang motors are known for reliability and longevity

It's a shame, some of those old houses once overlooked a quiet leafy lane, now that have all that noise and pollution, sadly. Plus that ever present hum of the M4... I think that steep climb is made for down only haha... As I type that, you head on down....!!!! Enjoy the slurpy

Yes Bry I agree absolutely, they call it progress. I am eager to get away from the noise of traffic which these days is almost incessant, it bruises the senses but apart from that what a beautiful time of year this is, everything is so vibrant and green:)

Hi Sandy, I’ve used my E-bike quite a lot and been stopped a few times of using my E-bike on bridal ways and footpaths and been told motorised vehicle’s are not allowed on all on bridal-ways. Cheers Will

@@willhas8416 From what I understand Will after a little bit of research you can ride an ebike on a bridle path as long as the ebike conforms to UK regulations and has a max speed of 15.5mph. A derestricted ebike is classed as a motor vehicle
