Swiss Army Tinker by Victorinox is probably the best EDC out there!

A Victorinox knife can found for just about anybody’s UNIQUE needs. The Serrated blade on yours is a special and those rarely require sharpening unless you cut stones the Tinker is a nice starter if your first Swiss Army knife.

I love the Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. My first SAK was a Wenger, and I didn’t think that much of it as it wouldn’t hold an edge. I found out the Victorinox brand knives were much better, and began to buy those. I now have several, and love them. I find them so useful and carry one everyday. My favorite is the smaller, more rare small (3&1/4”) Tinker. I used to carry one as a LEO and found that the screwdriver was useful for tightening the screws on radios and other gear. I was somewhat unique in my devotion to the SAK, to the point that my fellow officers referred to me as MacGyver , off of the old tv show where the hero used a Swiss Army knife and other tools he had on himself to get himself out of all sorts of difficult situations. I recently sent my original Victorinox to get the handle scales replaced as they were curling up from age. Now it looks brand new again!

I have never seen a serrated blade like the one that your Grandfather gave you. That is very UNIQUE

That serrated main blade is unique ,I don’t think I ever seen one on a victorinox.

Love that old Unique knife from your grandfather. The tinker is one my favorite SAK's along with the explorer which has the advantage of the inline Phillips.

The Tinker is a good knife. Not a big fan of corkscrews, so it appeals to me more than most. The old one with the serrated blade is different, a unique piece for sure. Very cool.👍👍👍

The punch blade has so many functions. It is very unique. I use it for the tasks that the other tools can't do. Thanks for sharing John.

I love the SAK Tinkler. I bought a bunch of them with Smoky Mountain knife Works has sale something like 4 or five years ago. ( maybe more because I’ve slept since then.) I know I’m late to the party … but the unique word Tinkler got me ha ha .. just doing a little recuperating after total knee… getting caught up on a lot of old videos.. keep up the good work, John. Oh cool thing about those Swiss Army knives you can swap handles easy… so there’s an aftermarket for that… but like I live here in Georgia lots of bulldog fans.. so with buying an equal amount of black and red knives I bought ;swapped Half of their handles to make some unique bulldog knives. Black and red colors… hey I’m a simple guy. I do simple projects…. But I try to do those projects well . I was known as Mr. clean at work ( elevator service tech / mechanic) My machine rooms were show places. Even if I did service call on another guys job I would clean the area. I was working at , like a car top door operator … n routine it . Instead of hurry up n hit the coffee shop. My personal cars ( wife’s n chevy regular cab short beds that daughters used h/s and college ) were always looking good ….always waxed .( cheap price for them to use it)… Simple guy simple jobs.. great reward. Love great tools like the tinkler. Years ago, I helped a son-in-law when I first retired , With restoring his great grandfathers, gardening tools, and some hand tools… Great experience for both of us. The use of a ‘tool’ doing something positive … with your hands … ( I hesitate to say mind also… I seem to go on auto pilot when I start working with my hands… it almost becomes like breathing.. Second nature-automatic). So I like planting seeds by giving knives .. and like I said, the tinkers were good one! And if I have a chance to give a second knife, I have a drawer full of Becker Escabars. N others. Three son in laws got / get Tools like floor jacks and Good two wheel wheelbarrels for birthdays, and Christmas. I guess they know I’m trying to tell them:’ get to work.’ Ha ha . No they are good guys. Ok 2 cups of coffee is one cup too many for me.. if you read this far thanks for putting up with my rambling.

The tinker is a unique Kamp knife because of the saw and and Phillips. Personal favorite SAK is probably the deluxe tinker or field master. Not thin but thin enough to carry with lots of capability.

I’d argue that the mountaineer is better due to the sheer versatility of it’s metal-file/saw. If you need a Phillips-head, the magnetic tip Phillips-head on the smaller SAKs are the best Phillips-head Victorinox makes. The corkscrew just has too many useful functions to replace.

I love the Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. I carry one with me everyday. I'm always looking at ebay for another one. The Tinker is an awesome EDC knife. I love the one your Grandfather gave you. 4:30 I don’t know what else you could put instead of the reamer/punch/etc. The corkscrew and parcel hook are the only things that come to mind-are there other unique tools for that spot (besides the Philips already on it)?
