While we visit the Hitec City here in Hyderabad (Cyderabad) we are also visiting IKEA and try the food there. Is it just exactly like the original in Europe? Or is it different? Do we feel like in Europe while visiting? Let's watch the video and find out. Also please do share the video if possible - the algorithm is not doing me too many favors, so let's see what will happen.
#modernindia #hitechcity #ikeaindia
Please don't skip the adds as this is what keeps us running, give the video a like and maybe even a comment if it is not too much to ask for as it then will be more present in todays KZbin algorithm.
In case you want to make a contribution feel free to sent us something on paypal: moonshine.lemongrass@yahoo.com.
Or else there is a patreon site:

Hyderabad was the 1st city to have probably the largest IKEA store in INdia and many are proud of the store & its philosophy! Your family seems completely at home (like in your country) & so thrilled! So nice. Best wishes!

Average furniture in India atleast in Hyderabad is more expensive than IKEA because people prefer more durable materials than particle boards of 14mm thickness . IKEA is for renting youth who move to Hyderabad for jobs . The rest don’t prefer ikea though the price is halfway what you get from other places .

Just to mention , prices at IKEA is very reasonable. For perspective, compare the prices at IKEA with a decent meal anywhere in India excluding cheap street food. You would probably pay more for a McDonald’s gourmet burger >rs 250. Even the items is best compared to a furniture, accessories store for a fair unbiased comparison. Another point is, ikea is not a status symbol brand associated with the well off. On the contrary it seen as brand that is mostly in the premium category among home furnishing stores. Not luxurious by a long shot.

Well,. we stopped eating the poisonous food at Mc Donalds, but of course this is also expensive. I regularily eat a great Thali for 60 or 70 RS, so the prices are very different.... Or just imagine you can have a huge plate of chicken Biryani for 150 Rs and be full. At Ikea I was just as hungry before and after eating.

You have been largely moving in low income group areas , where everything would be at affordable prices to the public. But you didn’t realise that in big cities there are groups/ people earning same kind of salaries in Europe. For these groups IKEA is a cheaper and affordable shopping than some of the up market luxury stores and malls. It is good you see both sides of India. For your information some hi tech Indians are returning to India from Europe and US as they are now earning comparable salaries back home. Bonus is own culture, extended families and cheaper food and services.

I really don’t understand why people are crazy about ikea furniture, it’s not very good quality at all. Probably because of the style I guess. More people are leaning towards contemporary style lately. But, this furniture in ikea is very light weight , not solid wood. It’s okay for the apartments, I wouldn’t buy for a nice big house.
@supernerd8527
@supernerd8527 4 ай бұрын
Definitely no! We can get much better furniture at 25% of IKEA prices in India. There are many talanted carpenters here. IKEA is good for bulk orders of multi-national corporate offices but for domestic usage we have a lot of options. You can collaborate with the carpenters for designing your furniture, bargain and oversee. IKEA is useful when price is not a concern and the user don't have time to explore the option.

@@yvesthesleeve can you please clarify what you mean "good enough for everybody to understand"? Also, you said the IKEA name banner was in Hindi. Even though it was a guess it won't go well with locals as it's a very sensitive issue in the union there. Every nation in the Indian union has their own national language besides English. Nobody forces a foreigner to use their national language you can simply use English but when you say it's Hindi it indoctrinates misinformation and people who do not have domain level knowledge will think it's true. I live in Germany.. can I go to any of the German speaking countries and say that "oh well, they speak Russian and here it's written in russian right?!" Do you think it will go well? I like your videos and presentations but some mistakes about national identities simply cannot be tolerated. These are some simple things you must research first. India is nothing but a European Union. There is no ONE culture, language, tradition or ethnicity. Period!

6:03 I think you went to IKEA on a weekday. If you go there on weekends, crowd will be next level. It's even tough to get a table in restaurant on weekends. 6:43 15:37 17:00 Yes you are absolutely right. Ikea is a very costly thing here. Only rich and ultra rich guys shop for furniture and interior decoration for home in IKEA. Most of them just go, see and chill out there. Since products are imported from Europe and due to transport & taxes, things are so expensive in IKEA. Even food we rarely buy from IKEA like once or twice a year and if we go with friends to IKEA for food we share the bill due to high cost. 11:27 , 11:59 I appreciate your timing in making some humour. I really like your humour and laugh aloud when you do some humour.🤣🤣🤣 17:10 I believe you guys have felt like having some homemade food in Switzerland. Happy that you guys had somewhat native food of your country. Actually once I had Veggie balls, It was so tasteless due to extremely less salt and decided never eat veggie balls again but I love IKEA Cheesecake. 24:06 24:17 😂😂😂 28:30 Hey it's your opinion why should someone get angry on you for telling your opinion. I personally believe your opinions are genuine and straightforward. I like that thing in you.

Yes, what a comparison, I had a huge chicken biryani and mutton biryani for 200 Rs and here a plate is 250 and I am still as hungry as before. The Biryani is difficult to finish. And it is much better of course

I think most middle class people can afford IKEA cafeteria. Portions might be small but 250 bucks for Chicken meatball curry is a good deal.

You said that " there is no way of knowing that you are in India" after seeing the well-organized IKEA store. What actually you were expecting?? Were you expecting to be full of trash in the store. Typical stereotypical European mindset....
@yvesthesleeve
@yvesthesleeve 4 ай бұрын
Yes, it is very much not Indian in there, everything is very clean and nicely organised like in Europe. Do you think I should spread Propaganda about India and say it is not what it is. Not me. I report everything like it is

U certainly don't represent Europe then ..with yr kids jumping into the beds in the store with filthy feet!! Milking India for all its worth & then criticizing it & comparing it to Europe!! Swedish meatball dish is unique to Ikea ..why compare apples to oranges... always griping about prices ... even when paying so little for food with the high value of the dollar... why not stay in yr own country where U could not even get a croissant for that amt!!

@@yvesthesleevemost malls in india are pretty well organized. Private sector is very efficient, it's the government owned ventures which are lagging behind And Indian middle class is huge, around 300 million. . I generally appreciate your content and the way you teach your kids about all the cultures. But, wanted to make a comment that India's population is huge and there is a lot of money in the country and everything is hugely expensive now there. So 250 rs has kind of become common for middle class now. Ironically, the food is the same and the charges are only for the ambience and brand.

@@yvesthesleeve Indians are more inclined towards pure wood furniture but IKEA doesn't sell pure wood items only creamy layer who are rich in India spend huge amounts for brand and rest of India buys from traditional outlets. Few people got attracted to some designs at first but traditional outlets copied them later.

You should always remember that in cities there are people who can afford this and there are people who cannot afford this. Yes, the number of people who cannot afford this is definitely higher, but when you compare this numer with Western countries, that number is still very high so I can see why Ikea is interested in growing their market in India. However, in my view, Ikea just doesnt get popular in India because it doesn't suit Indian culture so most people avoid this kind of rooms even if they can afford it. I dont know if it is only for me, but I feel like the rooms environment feel like rather boring and dull and most Indians are quite vibrant and enthusiastic. Hence, this is completely goes against the taste of Indians. I always wondered how Western people like this kind of environment at home.
