Remember folks in Far Cry New Dawn Joseph's people live and Joseph was actually right
@gnaskar3 жыл бұрын
@@hoodlum4511 He was correct, not right. Joseph was correct in that the apocalypse was coming, but "right" implies that his actions in response to that were justified. The murder, human sacrifice, rape, drugging, torture, enslavement, forced lobotomy, animal cruelty, theft, arson, domestic abuse, mistreatment of PoWs and numerous other crimes are not justified even in retrospect. Especially since the peggies remained a small insular community after the fall, while the communities that fought against the peggies are coordinating and working to actually rebuild. Given the cult's numbers prior to the apocalypse, that suggests Joseph was less prepared than the people he led a crusade against and that his chosen people experienced insane hardships during the nuclear winter, even compared to the other groups. In New Dawn the peggies are no longer antagonists. This doesn't relieve them of their guilt, doesn't justify their past actions, and doesn't make them good guys. It just means they aren't actively standing in the way of the good guys anymore.

@@hoodlum4511 given that pretty much everyone in the valley was a prepper of some description and pretty much every home has a bunker, I don't think getting people to believe that it was coming was an issue. Ditto for tying civilians to posts and using them as target practice. Hell, they had the guy explaining to you how he murdered his newborn son in cold blood. @Karam_EmpressOfDune_86 ай бұрын
That would've actually been awesome! And not out of place in the game, nor out of character for John either. Plus, it would've shown how the children of the cult felt about being a part of it. They would've been joyful and known nothing else, since they would've been taught to fully embrace the cult's teachings and to find joy and hope in those teachings. In many ways, it is little different from children in any religion who are raised on it. They tend to accept it and when they get older, they either stick with it or go their own way. In the world of Far Cry 5, they'd actually be best off sticking with it in any case, given what the world was destined to become. At least in Eden's Gate, they had a glimmer of hope and a feeling of belonging, unlike those left to face a broken world overrun by violence, desolation, and chaos in true post-apocalyptic fashion, which is what children outside the cult ultimately had to contend with. It really is a case of Eden's Gate being the lesser of two evils, and arguably the answer to a lot of problems in a post-apocalyptic world. It is ironic, how in a "normal" society they would be deemed as destructive and corrupting, whereas in the world following the nuclear holocaust they would have been just what was needed and actually been a force for good compared to what ended up happening in their absence in Far Cry: New Dawn. Which just goes to show how multifaceted and deep the storytelling is in these two Far Cry games, where even the supposed "villains" have a great deal about them that a person can actually sympathize with at times. All part of why Far Cry 5 and New Dawn are my favorites of the whole series. :)

It is Buddhism, not Christianity that teaches to eliminate all desires. Christianity is about rightly ordered loves and desires. "And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”" Matthew 22:35-40 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10

Well, I'm an American and I despise religion with the fury of a blast furnace. That said, the Far Cry 5 soundtrack really is beautiful and provocative. Everybody is free to live how they want and believe what they will so long as they do not try to force their beliefs on others or persecute others based on their beliefs. In the end, religion is a plague because the utopian view of everybody living their lives beholden to their own beliefs is 10,000% fiction. Reality is everybody expects everybody else to think, feel and believe exactly as they do and if not, murder death kill, persecute, torture, maim, annihilate, obfuscate, denigrate.
