Even in 2023 G2 faced 4 LPL or LCK teams, same as this year. Just KT got 5 because they didn't have the no replay draw rule yet. Meanwhile in both years NA gets the only Western team to qualify without needing to beat any LPL or LCK team. This year not even needing to beat an LEC team. Crazy bad luck for G2, but I guess that's Swiss draws. If they make it through they'll deserve that spot in the knockouts so much.

This year they need to beat 2 LPL/LCK teams and PNG, also a very unlucky draw. Both years an NA team qualified without needing to beat a single LPL/LCK team. This year NA didn't even need to beat an LEC team. NRG beat G2 last year fair & square, but it's still clear they had a vastly easier route to qualify than G2 did - MAD & TL vs GENG, DK & BLG (& WB for both), I know who I'd rather face! And this year the difference is even more extreme.

I may be speaking on behalf to many fans who watch worlds but whoever missed this rule of region vs itself to be aloud to face each other this early is so trolling. I mean it's almost toxic as toxic can be during worlds. Region v itself should be protected until absolute no other options by calculations. This is the entire point of Worlds. Region Rivalry. again, only until there is absolute no other options. If this continues next year I will skip Worlds altogether. As an LPL fan, the best result is no internal battle. G2 doesn’t look weak-they showed some great plays against T1 last round, but they always fumble key decisions in the late game. On the other hand, BLG players are totally out of form. Fly’s draft against HLE was super creative, something you don’t see in LPL or LCK. It would be fun if they made it to the quarterfinals. As for WGB and DK, they’re pretty much on the same level, and a lot of people are just waiting for them to mess up. Overall, tomorrow’s matches are neck and neck, but the loser’s going home.

Wow. Statistically it's expected that one team gets through Swiss only beating Western or minor region teams, but the chance of NA being guaranteed to do it without beating an LEC team either is miniscule. Meanwhile, G2 get the reverse, facing 4 LPL or LCK teams for the 2nd year running. For 2 years now G2 have been the only Western team to win a series vs an LPL or LCK team, and unless they beat the LPL champions they'll be knocked out a 2nd time. At least NRG had to beat LEC teams last year to qualify. That's the luck of the Swiss draw, but it's such a shame to see no NA vs EU games this year (at least unless we get a G2 vs TL/FLY semi...). Both NA and EU have had good moments at worlds - FLY taking a game off HLE, FNC off Weibo, G2 beating Weibo and taking HLE to the longest game - it'd be great to see how the two regions face up against each other.

G2 lost to NA last year, but I don't care to mention that. I think this EU vs NA debacle is pointless, these teams are near even in their slim chances to do anything internationally. (I'm not invested in western leagues, just a Chovy simp anyways.)

EU here, I still love the format, cause the matchups are crazy and I love the draws are kinda hype. What I don’t like about this format though, is no miracle hype for a miracle run after 0-3 into making top 2. But I guess being drafted in a group of death is less of an issue which is kinda nice

People didn't get this was going to happen from the beginning, same way a potential top 4 team could've drawn the other potential 3 top 4 teams and getting eliminated. Previous year the same, only some realized that something like NRG Vs G2 could happen. They could do Swiss but with only Bo3s and no same region matches.

The fact that Swiss system is made to ensure the most fair matchup for chess competitions with the score system implemented, the draw show basically ruined the entire system and why this exists And what's even funnier is they didn't use their global leaderboard for the Swiss seeding score system is so unprofessional

​@@CometCafeit isn't meant to replicate Chess system, if we actually do that. All the match ups would just be LPL vs LCK throughout and NA vs EU would just go 2-2 and they all will guarantee to face a 2-2 LPL and LCK team. Doing it random and being lucky is your best bet

The previous year when they announced there was going to be draws in every round, that's when you knew that was going to happen and what Riot wanted. With seeding, considering the 2 strongest regions are LPL & LCK, then in the pool 2-2 it'd have been only 3 matches against them, instead of this thing of lucky draws.

@@skrattaoppar9753 what I meant by that is to say group or GSL system felt much better than drawing Swiss, make a small bo1 group stage and only eliminate 4th, to create a 12 team double elim knockout stage will be so fun and seems fair for every team at the same time instead of drawing Swiss I enjoyed watching upsets and groups or Swiss without drawing tends to create more hard matchups to let underdogs shine

I swear i called it right before. All 3. Because i wanted it this way. G2 vs BLG obvious reasons. Yes, draw is awfull For EU hope but what opportunity to avenge 2023 qualifier series, same state, same story? History can be capricious sometimes. Brain: BLG 2-1 G2 / Heart: BLG 1-2 G2 Damwon vs Weibo for obvious reasons as well. LPL vs LCK usual showdown, + "honorific best 4th seed", even if Damwon finished 3rd, we know right now at Worlds they represents the younger and least accomplished LCK team here. But it will be fun, both teams are resilient despite not being particularly solid. Weibo being more composed and Damwon more explosive. Brain: 2-1 either way / Heart: Damwon 2-1. Like Weibo also. And of course, the remake LCS last Final ever won by Minions. Opportunity for NA to make quarters two years in a row. Some great accolade on these years for western banner. Brain: Fly 1-2 TL / Heart: Fly 2-1 TL As EU people and HLE fan + LCK enjoyer, serious things really start tomorrow. I hopes bangers!!! Good luck to everyone.
