Why? Neither of those are Wii U games. Nintendo was much more concerned with getting Wii U exclusives onto their successful new platform. Honestly at this point, folks are so starved for those two releases that they will be more profitable than that could have been at any other point in the Switch life cycle beyond 2019.

I don’t think it will ever happen. Why sell both fan favourite Zelda games together for $60 when you can sell them individually for $60? The only reason Nintendo released both games together on the Wii U was because it was a failing console and they wanted to attract players by giving them great deals. I think we should let it go. I struggle to imagine another Ocarina of Time remake. Nintendo don't equate their games to their stories or events, but wholistically, where every design decision is justified by another complementary one. Particularly with a game as treasured as OoT. If you added a bunch of details and distractions to each location, it wouldn't gel with the rest of the game, but if you applied high-resolution textures while the world geometry remained just as it was on the N64, it would look absurd and pointless. The 3DS was pretty much the last great opportunity to remake a game with its level of complexity. A single analogue stick and the low-resolution screens really complemented what that game was. I don't think you just give it a lick of paint and call it a new release today.

I would really like a side story a la Xenoblade where you play as Zelda during Link's 7 year nap. Having all of the 3ds QOL updates, as well as a fully controllable camera, would be great to have on Switch.

I agree, they shouldn't make it look new like a modern game, you see it with all those fanmade versions on KZbin that lose all its original charm and overdo it. They still could clean up the 3DS version a bit though, f.e. the flat stairs and stuff like that. But yes, the original artstyle should stay. A nice cleaned up HD port would be enough...I finally want to play that game on console again, not a tiny handheld screen.

Not expecting a lot of things announced for the Switch 1 outright when it's clear their advertisement in the future will be focused on the successor. imo Oracle game remakes would be better than an HD Minish Cap. Minish Cap has aged pretty well visually and wouldn't benefit much from a remaster. Ocarina 3DS port would definitely be awesome, though.

Super Mario Galaxy 2, Yoshi's Wolly World, Zelda: Link Between Worlds & Metroid: Samus Returns are the only games I wanted to see come on the Switch. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Yoshi's Wolly World & Zelda: Link Between Worlds are terrific games that shouldn't be missed or forgotten and while Samus Returns is not one of the best Metroid games out there or even the best Metroid remake ( Zero Mission tops that ), it did lead into alot of engines that Dread perfected it and shouldn't be forgotten. And yeah. I know I forget Prime 2 & 3 Remastered. But we all know we'll get them.

So yeah, “relegating” is a good term. Nintendo now sees themselves kinda like Rockstar does, so big that The Game Awards is largely unnecessary & a waste of money when they can command a similar amount of attention on their own terms (I.E. through Nintendo Directs).

I'm hoping that the new Ice Climber game, either from HAL Laboratory or Masahiro Sakurai, Nintendo seemed to have been hinting at throughout Smash Ultimate, Nintendo World Championships NES Edition and Nintendo's official wallpaper for NES NSO will come January 30th, 2025, maybe a shadowdropped eShop exclusive priced at $20, because that marks the 40th anniversary of Ice Climber Famicom in Japan and Vs. The Switch was my first ever Nintendo home console (I grew up with PlayStation). Just give me everything I missed and I'll be delighted. Mario Galaxy 2? Sure, I loved the first one on switch! Twilight Princess or Windwaker? Absolutely, I've adored discovering Zelda games for the first time! The Switch has made so many new fans for their heavy hitter series. Surely the switch, or switch 2, gets a lot of heavy hitter remasters over the next year or so.

I’d love to see some more 3DS ports end up on the switch at this point just because of the handheld to TV/TV to handheld element of the system. Luigi’s Mansion (originally for GameCube; HD remaster from the 3DS remaster) Link between worlds Ocarina of time Majora’s mask Metroid 2 All the fire emblem games In addition, I’d also like to see a definitive edition with all content from Wii U & 3DS of woolly world and naturally the HD remasters of Twilight, Princess and Windwaker finally from Wii U I think ultimately this would tie in quite well to respecting one’s legacy and giving people the opportunity who may be on old enough/or even born in some cases to play some of these games. Something else I thought about that I’ve always really wanted is Soul Calibur II definitive edition for Nintendo platform, I mean back in the day it really hurt my feelings when Soul Calibur II HD didn’t come to Wii U, I mean who wouldn’t wanna play as all three guest characters in one game? This is coming from somebody who has all three original releases. In terms of new games, I’m just thinking let’s just be surprised and see what comes when Nintendo wants to announce anything on Nintendo time 😜 The biggest thing for me right now though would be how Nintendo wants to handle digital purchases going forward from the switch to the successor system. I’m also hoping that in the next MGS collection, we end up getting twin snakes, just as an aside FYI I’m also all for galaxy 2 even if you sold that as a double pack digital bundle with maybe a limited print run physical release with the first game. I must be one of these weird people because if I’m being completely honest, I think the original Wii when you take out the shovelware s’e has the best first & Second party output Nintendo‘s ever produced. If/when we get a Wind Waker or Twilight Princess HD on Switch or Switch 2 I hope they'll take the opportunity to add some stuff to the games! A few more small quality of life additions or fun new features- for example, some of Wind Waker's cut content or giving Twilight Princess an orchestral soundtrack- would make the games a lot more appealing to rebuy; especially if you owned the Wii U versions. Aside from that, I REALLY hope we get a Wooly World port/remaster sooner than later! That was one of my favorite games on Wii U, and one of the few platformers that my wife has gravitated towards thanks to the tremendous art style.

Most of the rumors have mentioned that FE4 Remake is a Switch 1-only game (I.E. no cross-gen) that has been finished for over a year at this point, so I doubt they went back & made a Switch 2 port since then. Plus I think Jon is right in that the first Switch 2 FE game should be a brand new story that captures a wider audience in the same way Three Houses did. As for the lack of Rhythm Heaven, that’s mostly because Tsunku was battling cancer for a large chunk of the Switch 1’s life. Now that he won that battle a few years ago, we may get a new RH entry next year.

I think it's very unlikely that the Zelda remasters will come to Switch at this point so i just got a Wii U, i wanted a way to play Wii games on a HDMI anyway and that's the easiest way to do it (I still think it's very dumb that they took the eShop offline though, i got a brand new physical copy of Sin and Punishment Successor of the Skies/Star Successor on eBay because of that)

Okay I know that we got a rumor of Kirby Planet Robobot HD coming to Switch but I'm not gonna buy it because I don't know why you would leave out Kirby Triple Deluxe? Because this was from Nate's Podcast and I don't know why he would leave out Kirby Triple Deluxe because it would be nice to see HAL and Nintendo make a two-pack Collection for both Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot and then we would have all the Modern Kirby Games in one console and then I would buy it and then I would be happy for it if they did that. For a remake or a sequel for Kirby Air Ride maybe they can like add new tracks, add new Air Ride Karts, and adding a new roster of characters and also adding the three characters from the Kirby Anime which are Tiff, Tuff, and Escargoon since Kirby Right Back At Ya did do a episode based off of Kirby Air Ride and also adding other characters like Adeleine, Ribbon, Bandana Waddle Dee, Marx, Magolor, Taranza, Susie, Elfilin, Clawroline and etc. For a new Kirby Game I'm pretty sure we would be getting a sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and they can add like new copy abilities and upgrades, new mouthful modes, new lands to explore, and adding new playable characters like King Dedede, Meta Knight, (and for the first time ever) Clawroline, and Elfilin being playable characters to go along with Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee. Or they can do that fake leaked 2D Kirby Game which is called Kirby and the Celestial Stars and this new female Kirby Character that looks related to Susie or is a sister to Susie which her name is Polly. And I hope we get to see a remake or a sequel for Tomodachi Life since we already got Miitopia on Switch and maybe they can like add the Miitopia Mii Maker in Tomodachi Life like that would be awesome if Nintendo did that. So yeah I hope we could still get some Switch 1 Games in 2025 next year before we move on to the Switch 2.

Because Nintendo will continue releasing new games for Switch 1 exclusives throughout the first two years of Switch 2. Nintendo won't abandon Switch 1 the moment Switch 2 is out.

@lol-ih1tl Indeed they won't drop support so soon, but these titles will have no effect on switch sales whatsoever. On the other hand, a proper 4K (with HDR) version could have a huge impact on Switch 2.

@HugoGEDHugoGED The reason why it's more likely to release on Switch 1 is because the late years of a console's lineup primarily consist of re-releases. Expect a lot of remasters of GameCube, Wii, and 3DS games on Switch 1's post-Switch 2 lineup.

Nintendo bring back Zelda to what it was! Fuck this open world bullshit, every game now is open world. Sure BOTW did it best but now it’s just another game in an ocean of similar games and no one does classic style Zelda like Nintendo. I had hopes that at least I have the 2D games but now even those are going the open ended format

I agree. I loved BOTW, but TOTK and recently EoW didn't work for me the same way and it's really disappointing not liking and not keeping new Zelda games anymore. Everything "new" about that new formula isn't new anymore already and not enough to make up for everything old that's missing since.
