I've always owned lots of games for every console I've owned, but the Switch is definitely the first time I've ever felt like a collector of games. I've bought about 100 games for my Switch, around 60 of which was physical, and I love having all these cases stacked next to my tv. The Switch will definitely go down as my favorite system of all time, and the last few years of having one have honestly been some of my favorite years of being a gamer.

I bought my switch at may 2020, so almost two years now. So far I have 42 games for the system. I have most of the "must own" games (BOTW, pokemon, smash, mario odyssey and kart 8, etc). But also some great other games. Xenoblade 1 and 2, Bayonetta and Astral Chain, FF7-8 collection, SMT5, FE Warriors, etc. I also own some really unknown games like Crystal Crysis- Tetris like game which is crossover between some games and anime like Cave Story, and Black Jack. My point is, I LOVE my switch.

I bought my switch lite at the beginning of April 2020 and it has helped me quite a lot to be able to deal with life. Although I have an adult coloring channel, I have been a gamer for years (Playstation with my beloved series Silent Hill) Being able to play handheld is awesome since I don't have the TV for my own (hubbie is not a gamer unfortunately). I do wish they would bring all the Silent Hill games to switch though, that would really make my day 😁

I've got over 350 physical Switch games and counting. One of them actually has a black spine instead of red; it's one of the Darksiders games. I do wish more games had the entire game on cart without necessary day one patches (looking at you Pokemon BD/SP!) or downloads. I wasn't all that interested in Switch or games when it launched but a friend convinced me to wait in line on launch day at Best Buy. I was lucky to get a grey switch and Zelda BotW and from there I was hooked. I poured over 1000 hours into Splatoon 2. There's so many underrated games like arms and astral chain too.

I didn't get a Switch until the middle of 2019, and I've already got over 100 physical games from retail, import, and low print distros, I even catalogued them all on my channel. It's a great hobby for me to collect, and I only collect games I actually like but it's so much fun to just get all these games, especially with all these imports and low prints, as it feels like you're getting something very few people have. I know a lot of people are anxious to see their next console but honestly I'm hyped to see The Nintendo Switch continue for several more years and just become this juggernaut for games. One thing I have noticed is most games for the system hold their value quite well. A few like Ubisoft games and quick cash-grab style games drop low pretty fast but the majority of the games in my collection are still worth the same amount or more than when I bought them. I don't collect for the monetary value but I think it's a solid bet to say that the value of collecting for this system will only go up.

I love collecting it. But I'm not sure if it will be considered highly sought after 20 years from now. For example, I tried to play Luigi's Mansion without an internet connection. The game would not load. It told me I needed to update before I could play but I didn't have an internet connection where I was. Thus, I couldn't play the game. How many of these physical games are actually going to be playable in the future? It will be important to keep on top of your updates and cross your fingers that your hardware doesn't fail, if you want to actually enjoy a lot of these physical editions in the future. I also think that the kids today are not going to be as nostalgic for physical goods in the future because it is not what dominates the space right now. AND my final point.... most of these physical games, are simply boxes with a little cart inside. Some games don't even have a nice artwork on the inside of the insert. Personally, I like collecting the retro games because of the beautiful manuals. Anyways, I know I sound like a downer. I want to say, that I still LOVE collecting for the Switch. I am just nervous that I won't be able to actually utilize a lot of the physical games when I'm an old lady and want to get my Donkey Kong on.

I agree with you. Our generation likes to collect and hoard. Today's kid's have everything at their fingertips with digital. Also (I think) alot of collector's are building up these collections (especially sealed) with the intention of some future retirement investment. I think they will regret that they wasted all that money because the market will be flooded with these sealed (or unsealed) games. Just my opinion anyway. Maybe I'm wrong.
@LaLtheGaL2 жыл бұрын
@@dotheevolution78 Yes, it will be interesting. I still buy and "collect" but I don't know if I am a collector. I buy games that I want to play. I just happen to want to play a lot of games. When I buy collector's editions, I don't keep them sealed. What I actually do, is take the game out, play the game, and then when I beat the game my reward is to be able to look through the goodies in the collector's box. I do find myself questioning buying digital over physical with modern games. I keep falling back to physical because I do like to thumb through the games I have and decide what I want to play next. I also like to have the freedom to sell a game if it didn't click with me. I have Gamepass, and now if I find a real gem that I fall in love with, I will buy the physical edition and that is often as a way to say thank you to the developer for making something special.

Honestly I bought a switch within the first few months and found it disappointing, mainly due to lack of games. However I did end up returning it for a refund and getting one a year or so later, since then, I have become a collector of games and fallen in love with the switch. Honestly my favourite console, not only can I enjoy the games I love and find more I now love, but I can also take those exact games on the go. Keep up the great videos Johnny, found your channel in 2021 and watched all your videos since, even bought some of the things in your "Game Stuff" series.

I think I’ve gotten most of the North American physical releases that are within reasonable price so far. I’ve moved on to imports and I gave 50+ physical games and rising! The switch has been such a fun console to collect/buy physical games for

I started collecting physical copies for Switch by the end of '21 after I managed to get an OLED. It's a lot of joy, that much I can say, though some of the prices are pretty steep, like Hades and Bayonetta 2 with the active Bayonetta 1 code. It's a really nice addition to my PlayStation collection. Can't wait for BotW 2 and Splatoon 3!
