I had a Switch Lite before trading it for a regular Switch. Honestly if the Switch Lite could be docked it would simply be perfect, it's simply the BEST handheld experience I've ever had. The buttons feel amazing and premium, the screen looks sharp and the console is super light. I love being able to detach Joy-Cons, dock it to the TV and being able to customize my Switch with any accessory I want, but my God I don't think the regular Switch can ever mimic how good the Lite feels in handheld mode

Switch Lite is really the 2DS of the Switch family, and Nintendo exactly knew who its made for with its unibody durable form factor and cute color options. Plus its an option if you have multiple kids in a family and 200$ is an easier price to swallow for Christmas gift purposes for the average parents. Recent sale statistics did showed that its mostly women and kids that owned a Switch Lite, so its great to have more people that can enjoy their games on the Switch that they wouldn't otherwise with the regular Switch! I may not daily drive a Lite, but my siblings does and its always good to have options like this for kids, casual gamers or just anyone who prefers something more portable.

When I originally got the original switch back in 2018 It was precisely "for the family" and not my own. I wanted my very own personal switch that can take with me anywhere and anytime. When the switch lite got announced back in 2019 figured definitely wanted that for Christmas, and of course I've got it for Christmas! had no issues with it as well and had an absolute blast with it!

I'm currently looking for a Switch after 6 years of wanting one. Honestly, the only thing that truly stops me from buying a lite is joycon drift-- if not for that issue I would've bought it in a heartbeat as I (honestly) do not mind the inability to dock to a bigger screen. I'm saying this as a student because repairs can be expensive in my country (Nintendo does not have a presence where I live, so sending it to them would be such a huge hassle). I would rather shell out the additional cash for peace of mind, even if I would never use docked mode. That being said, I really appreciate Nintendo for making a lighter and cheaper alternative, making switch gaming accessible to a wider range of people! I just wish the build quality of the joycons were better or improved upon in later models especially after all the backlash these past few years. I hope Nintendo's next gen console takes note! Great video btw! Subscribed!

I've owned a Switch Lite for 2 years and it's still working fine. About the drift, there are plenty of tutorials on how to replace sticks on both, regular Switch & Lite. It might be a cultural thing or fear of tinkering with our own consoles is somewhat spread around. It's really hard to mess up while following guides, just be careful with ribbon cables. Personally I've even replaced my 3DS shell, buttons, bottom screen and digitizer too.

I really like my switch lite, the only problem is that when you play some games that are a little more graphically intense or more detailed, the screen feels a bit too small. Throughout my playthrough of Luigi’s mansion 3, I spent half the time squinting at the screen with my face several inches away. 2d games like stardew and Celeste are fantastic on it though. Makes me wish there was a just a unibody form factor with the specs of the oled.

I just bought my third Switch Lite today. Sold the first one in turquoise for $110 after getting it for $90. Then sold a coral one earlier today for $120 after getting it only for $70 like 2 days ago. That's a $70 net profit. Used it to get a second turquoise Lite an hour after selling that coral and it's in flawless condition like the previous two. I really only spent $30 on it if I deduct the $70 net profit from selling the other two. I was going to buy a regular Switch on 4th of July but hated the weight of it. I'll only stick to Lites for now on. Only reason why I sold my first one after 7 months owning it was the analog stick would no longer turn right. If the analog stick gets bad again playing hours of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I'll get the hall effect sensor parts from Amazon and get them replaced from a repair shop. I'll also buy a compatible wireless Bluetooth controller for it.. For my needs, Switch Lite is the perfect form factor. I don't want anything larger than this. Switch Lite is as large and heavy as I want to go. It's perfect next to my black, modded Vita 2000. This also means no Steam Deck for me. I can't tolerate carrying large handhelds.

I wish the lite had already been released when I bought my switch, I absolutely would have chosen it over the normal switch for the exact reasons you named here! I rarely play in docked mode anyway and regularly turn off the rumble function because I think it is uncomfortable in many games, so missing either of those would not have been a great loss for me, and lower price and higher durability would have been more important to me personally! Glad to see someone seriously talking about the lite as more than just a "switch for kids"!

My only complain about the switch is literally the drifting problem, and since the lite can not disconnect the controlle r (i mean its too obvious) if the drifting happened, it really bummed me to send my entire console just to fix the damn thing. Outside of that, yeah this version is perfect
@kevinstrident

I prefer the feel of the Switch Lite by a wide margin, but some of the best games on the Switch platform are Wii U ports that are intended to be played on a TV-sized screen. When shrunk down to the Lite's small screen, certain details can become impossible to see. Wanting to play Breath of the Wild, but struggling to see certain attacks and projectiles led me to get a standard Switch. What I learned from having both was, with a Nintendo Online account, your save data is saved and synchronized online, so no matter which device you grab, you can pick up from your last save. I've now upgraded to a Switch OLED, but the usage is still the same: if I'm gaming on the go, it's with the Switch Lite. If I'm going to hang out with a friend at his home, I will take the OLED, but otherwise it lives in the dock. So which Switch should you buy? I think the best answer is: both.
@supersmashmaster43
@supersmashmaster43 Жыл бұрын
That's interesting cause I basically played breath of the wild solely in handheld mode and it really felt perfect for it but I didn't enjoy it as much when I switched to dock mode as it look a bit too blurry for my liking. Might also have to do with using headphones while playing in handheld, it also felt more immerse to a degree. I was just addicted to breath of the wild when I played it through summer 2019 and played it in bed till I started getting tired.

@@supersmashmaster43 I never played a 3rd person 3D game on a console until BotW. After SNES, I was PC only until 2020. Might have just been part of the learning curve. And use the Right stuff. ) 3: Don't press the buttons to hard. Or Use The Joy sticks aggressively. Reasoning: If you play the Switch like an Xbox/ps Player than your Switch is not going to last long, ( JoySticks )| Cause like if you play it like an xbox/ps player it obviously is not going to last long then just get a laptop or xbox/ps. cause why the hell do you play on it so aggressively?.

I've had the Switch Lite for over a year, and even now, I don't have to deal with joystick drift. Then again, it's not really drift, but rather the console detecting inputs incorrectly when I tilt the joystick forward too hard and the console reading joystick inputs for a little too long. That's mainly noticeable and slightly annoying on the main menu and settings. The only problem I have is that there's no way to play on a monitor or a TV. I just never had the need for that feature, but now I actually have people to play games with.

The single most important peice of information people need to consider when buying a Switch Lite is that "stick drift" is still very much a thing, Nintendo has never addressed it and if you get stick drift on a Lite model you will have to send your entire system in to be fixed unless you're privey to pulling apart the system yourself, the point is you cant simply walk into a game store and buy a replacement joycon like you can with a regular model or even buy a full on controler attachment for it with better sticks and buttons which they sell for regular models. This point should really be addressed in the video because its honestly a very critical point of information a buyer should have when considering the options.

It's less expensive to buy a Switch Lite and some Joy-Con's than it is to buy a normal Switch by about 40 USD. You can buy a decent game or MicroSD card for that price. Aside from that, I've had my Switch Lite since Christmas 2019. I haven't had to repair it once and it has never drifted. The only issue with it is that it doesn't have a very good battery life, however, that may be due to me often playing with it plugged in, which can happen to any device that utilizes charging. It is perfect for games that are remasters of gamecube or older games. I really enjoy the ty the tasmanian tiger series and its perfect on the switch lite. Skyrim, Stardew Valley, are other amazing portable options. Even Green Hell, a survival game, looks and runs decent with 30fps and lower resolution. Im a gamer of all sorts. Pc, console, emulators, etc, i would recommend a switch lite to anybody looking for a "lazy" gamer day. You just wanna curl up on the couch/bed and have some snacks and play whatever game, even at a friend's house because its fully portable. One of my only complaints is that the shell of the switch is so flat that my hand can cramp if im laying down and holding it, but a case with some grip or the little handles on the side like a controller fixes that problem %100.

Switch Lite is the first handheld console I've ever owned, I'm really happy with it. I wanted a lighter console as I have chronic pain and I can curl up with it comfortably in bed. The size and weight is perfect for me. I love how easily it is to travel with too, I can just pop it in my handbag. I'm thinking of buying an external controller for it though because I've had some difficulties platforming with it.

Honestly, if you have the money then it would be beneficial to have both the Lite and the Full Switch. You can use the full one for a more complete console experience that others can easily join in on, and use the Lite to have the mobility and all the unique benefits of a smaller, lighter and more complete handheld. It’s a costly investment though, and unless you’ve got a lot of extra money to spare then it might not be worth it. You could ask your family to pitch in for some of the cost, but then you’d have to convince them to make the investment since they might not initially see the purpose to it. Either way, it’s up to you if you want to do it. Personally I don’t have the money to do so and want to invest in other things instead, but if you do then you may reap some benefits from it.

Well, I tried the Lite before deciding for a red box model, and the build quality is pretty excellent. I just bought the one I have now because of the mutliplayer aspect, because my sister and I love to play in co-op on the same TV. I'm not even thinking about motion controls or anything here, but it's still nice to have the option. So the Lite is not for everyone, but kids will appreciate having a portable, solid system to play cool games. I've seen some myself so yeah.

I bought the switch the day it came out. Was in hotel 8(army training stuff) at the time and didn't have access to a tv (or any gaming device for that matter) so I had got the switch light and was absolutely glued to the thing. Then when I got to my unit and had access to all my stuff again, I promptly put it away and haven't played on it since then. Only turned it on once I bought a regular switch to transfer my stuff over.

I don't own a Switch Lite but my mom does and i just love how it doesn't have the dreaded joycon drift while the switch i own does as of now, i honestly would have gotten a switch lite in the past if i did know about joycon drift before getting a regular switch.

I got both lite and OLED models. And I actually use the lite model far more frequently than the OLED one! Never regretted having both of them. But to be honest, which model to pick is largely depends on what kind of game you usually play if you want to have the best experience. I usually play games which you don’t have much expectation on the picture quality or a relaxed style game (such as Animal Crossing, Story of Seasons etc) on lite. 3A games such as Zelda undoubtedly have to be played on OLED.

The Switch Lite would be better if it had the option to charge wirelessly similarly to most recent smartphones. If they made another revision with it included, then that would be great to have! Also thank you for using the Nintendo of America version of the Switch Lite reveal trailer clip instead of the other one that everyone uses!

Switch lite is cheap, small and super portable. It's a good console to start with to give to your kids or yourself especially if you don't have enough to spend for a PS5 or even a PS4. If you're lucky, you could find it for as low as 140$.

I would say buy the switch lite if you're going to play the switch a lot outside of your house or just handheld. Buy the normal switch if you use it for parties (joy-cons allow for more controllers and ability to doc it for everyone to see), serious gaming (higher resolution and better fps), or just enjoy having it on a tv.

Imo, it's the best option. I have all 3 models and if we are talking about portability, bang for buck, form factor and usability, it's the Lite for me. Imo, the Oled can sometimes add too much color and the draw distance isn't as good on it compared to the Lite. It also cramps my hands over extended play times. Most games that you want to play on an oled, you might as well play on an oled TV if you already have one. Imo, an oled switch lite would be the GOAT handheld
