I could totally understand why a lot of the music had to be completely redone and sound differently. Apparently copyright holding issues was allegedly the reason why most of the soundtrack was redone along with the source code being lost. This is definitely a lot better but I still got to give a lot of credit the remake's composer for at least trying the best they can get it to sound like the original game. Hopefully the upcoming remake of HOTD2 is better since Sega still has the source code for HOTD2, so music and such should hopefully be retained on that

I tried to have good rhythm for both intros of the chapters and the transitions to end on beats it feels more satisfying that way, instead of having annoying fade outs. Honestly, the remake annoyed me a lot when all the songs fade in. The game is filled with so many odd choices in both gameplay and presentation

An interview with the devs mentioned that they weren't able to do this in the HotD remake because Sega lost all source code and Sega didn't want ripping the Wii and Pc port assets due to legal and publishing problems. This isn't the case for HotD2 so I'm hoping for the best. They did confirm that they're working on HotD2.

Were not getting remixes or an original graphics mode because of licensing issues and the development team explicitly not being allowed to use assets from the original game. Our best bet to get all of this stuff into the game along with a light gun is hoping for a PC port with modding and using a Sinden light gun as of current.

Probably gonna sound stupid but I played this game what seems YEARS ago and it was my favourite in the arcades. When I heard about the remake I was so hyped, especially for the music, but was slightly disappointed for reasons a lot of people and other video reviews have already mentioned. What completely and 110% makes up for it is that, through it, I discovered your channel and the amount of great work you've put into it and the remastered music (all of which is fantastic and they should definitely hire you, btw) and I can't explain to you the sense of nostalgia for this game it's given me. I'm really intrigued by this game development. They took 3 years to develop a rail shooter, and the results is kinda half decent. Making game ain't easy, but still, it's a rail shooter, with 4 stage, that can be completed in less than an hour.

Siberian Mayhem, a Serious Sam expansion, took a year and probably some more to make, and it's better than main game. Best part? The team consists of modders. I don't want to say much, this has to be a result of bad management.

I think the light gun issue might take some time for someone like Egregiousguy to fix. I’ve only tested the mouse and it works really good! It’s not perfect because I’m sure it was not meant to be used yet, but Yuzu let’s you use the mouse as a joystick replacement

I was actually using a mouse, that’s why I was shooting faster than usual. The problem with my controls is that I have latency and the dead zones are hard to figure out, as well as the lag on the game. I hope the Performance mode gets optimized

I remember when this game came out in the 90's, it was a big hit. Other than the dead zombies walking around, the thing that really scared me was watching the scientists run away and say "Help Me" before being killed. The part at 4:50 where Sophie gets smacked across the room was crazy. First she says that she was so scared and then....Wack lol!

This is exactly what it should be, a remake of the classic soundtrack, not doing something different which it didn't give me 90s vibes, but I don't blame the composer for this because of the copyright issue. I don't know what would hurt Sega if they actually remake the song. Anyways, in this video, with your music suits very well, I give this 8/10. My complaints are: in Chapter 1, the sky should be cloudy day, not night, Magician performed too slow, and you're right about the unfair damage like at 15:27 when the barrel was thrown instantly as soon as you started to enter the lab pool room.

There are even more instances where there is unfair damage. Most of the time the enemies just attack instantly and don’t let the player breathe at all, or enemies attack all at once. The game is definitely not balanced 😕

The original has many surprises and like, two cheap shots. But this one clearly didn’t balance the enemies attacks in speed and amount. That’s why Horde Mode can’t be played 1CC, handgun only. Cuz they attack all at once, and they can’t pathfind their way to the screen properly since the screen focuses on enemies, instead of sections, and keeps moving around, causing them to attack behind you and offscreen

Hehe, now this is the mod I was waiting. While the new music is alright, and I do like the Magician's new theme quite a bit... it still really doesn't compare to the original game's. I was so hyped for this game was going to buy it on release day. Then I saw a video of the first level and the trash music they used and was like "eah without the right music it's just a crao remake" gotta use og music for the nostalgia or the game doesn't feel the same. Also the zombies should have looked more like their old models they were more easy to differentiat from eqchother almost made them like characters. In this game they all kind if blend together. I hope when they remake the second game they do it right keep the original music with NO REMIXING. The second games music was great the way it was.

In my opinion, they should not have bothered making this remake if they were going to have so many set backs and problems. The worst part is that people are overpaying for this 40min game. There are games cheaper and longer than this one does, and it feels like a rip off 😕

Guys, the reason why they didn't use the original music for the remake is because they're from a different indie studios, they don't have the liscense to use the original songs, because only one studio (which is owned by SEGA) owns their soundtrack. If an indie studio uses the soundtrack owned by SEGA, they would get a copyright strike. Sorry, that's how it works.

of the entire remake soundtrack I think the best song is Chapter 3's but its only okay. rest of the songs could go, and I'm very upset there's no original or other remix albums. They'd be easy inclusions that make the game worth playing more of

I mean, the song in the menu is an original track. Every other song is part of the game, but it tries to “replicate” the feeling of the original Arcade ost. Which in my opinion is quite disrespectful to the original composer. I would have enjoy the music better if it had an original take on the game. It IS a remake, after all.

In the HOD Discord, they mention that there are continuity errors on both characters, backstories explained in the menu and names of creatures. This remake is very weird

Yes, that secret is that you got the bad ending 😂. Jk you have to get over 62,00 points to get the good ending. The remake and original game only have three endings, tho.

New to modding. How do I put your awesome soundtrack in the steam version of the game?

I left instructions in the mod download. Search my community posts. But you basically have to replace the already existing “.bank” files. So open the ZIP file (you don’t really have to extract anything, just grab the items inside) and then put them in the StreamingAssets folder 😃

Well hope HOTD2 Remake is better than HOTD1 Remake (no offense), with the good old beautiful bad voice acting, and hopefully inspired the original OST of the original HOTD2.
