I used to like the more compact keyboards, but I got sick of keycap struggles. There always seemed to be a keycap that wasn't the right profile or size. I now only go for standard TKL layouts. It's so much less stress and cheaper when I don't have to buy extra optional keycaps to complete a set.

Hi Jake and Betty, at "Switch and Click". I want to thank you for your many videos about the mechanical engineering and fundamentals of specialized keyboards. I'm a systems engineer and I purchased my first mechanical keyboard, which was a Logitech G413 last year. Love it and it has helped my own work flow, as well as helped me to take seriously how good mechanical keyboards can, I feel, also significantly assist the workflow and creativity of all people at home and at work. I'm not convinced that TKL's are best yet as I have a lot of business clients who'd require a full sized keyboard. But TKL's are good for 'family use' computers perhaps? Thanks again to you both at Switch and Click for your interesting and thorough reviews as well as essential testing. I think high quality keyboards for work may be a growth area, just as good monitors was a growth area, years ago, in order to address eye issues. We see how better IPS panels have benefited everyone's eyes in recent years. Perhaps soon, it will be recognized that having ergonomic, safe, personalized, fun, and 'physiologically reliable' mechanical keyboards for everyone can help our hands and fingers stay healthy, during both serious work times and recreation times.
@RomboutVersluijs3 жыл бұрын
There are full mechanical keyboards, you do know that right?
@cagycylinder62463 жыл бұрын
@Lucas D0414 Yeah I agree; I have a full-sized Durgod Taurus for work and a more compact TKL for home. The only issue with the macro pads you speak of is an extra connection via usb. I'd rather have one connection for the keyboard. But then again, if someone really needs the number pad, just go for a full sized keeb.
@triadwarfare3 жыл бұрын
The Nav keys are not something I can sacrifice with pressing additional function keys as I do plenty of Excel. That should be something to consider, so you should not limit yourself to the K2 and K6 like she suggested. If you use these keys and used to the traditional layout, I suggest going to the K8. K2 and K6 requires a learning curve to get used to, and will only get difficult if you have to combine it with Excel keyboard shortcuts that also require the use of the nav keys. Not sure though if you could reprogram the Home key to Delete for use on another PC, but that's something to consider on a work computer as you are not usually granted admin access and installing additional software is prohibited by company policy Got the K8 as I'm a traditionalist coming from a 100% keyboard layout. I'm a bit disappointed that there's no scroll lock or pause break as this has been replaced with the light and voice command key, but at least I still got printscreen. I originally was going to a C2 100% layout, but once the pandemic ends and we all go back to work, it would be difficult to fit the keyboard on a laptop bag, like the G512 Carbon that came before.

On my second K4. The previous one met a heinous demise at the hands of a poorly-executed Jack & Coke manouvre. Keep in mind that the Keychron warehouse is in Hong Kong. It ships from there, and if you don't like the product, you're responsible for returning it to there. Which means, effectively, there are no returns. Keychron doesn't offer a return label, so you can pony out more money than you spent on the actual keyboard, trying to return it.

So this is my first one after going through so many videos and finally deciding on this one. PERFECT. I really like this keyboard, typing on it right now. It charges well, connects well and just wonderful to type on. I use it for programming and normal tasks,no gaming. So for people like me, it is perfect! Previously I was all out Logitech and I though they were the best, I know now. This is better! But it is heavy. I got the aluminium base. So i dont think it is suitable to take outside.

the keychron is a really great product. the K2 is the first keyboard I bought, and that was the best option since I was coming from using an Apple Magic Keyboard... so it was perfect for me, I didn't had to learn any remapping for keys. Now I'm starting to explore other 60% keebs options and found that I really like the Anne Pro 2, because of its software. I'd say that if Keychron would make their keyboards with software that can let the user to fully customize not only the lights, but also the key maps and building macros, that would be the perfect keyboard.

I recently purchased a Keychron K7. The K7 is advertised as "wireless". It is actually Bluetooth (same frequency band, different protocols). Connected to my system with supplied (too short) USB cable. Multiple keys do not work. Keychron sent me a link to a website designed to test keyboards. I sent a screen shot of the results to Keychron. Keychron demands a video showing the keyboard and screen proving that I did not falsify the test results. The product is sold "as is" - there is no warranty. Tried to get an RMA number and a return shipping label. If the keys do NOT work, the feel DOES NOT MATTER, and the reliability DOES NOT MATTER! If this is the way they treat their customers, do not expect them to be there in a few years.

the K6 was my very first 65% wireless keeb, indeed bought after I had seen the review here. Using it for 3 months at my job now and still happily clacking away... battery lasts about 4 weeks when turning rgb off which surprised me. The weird layout (del, end, home key) was strange at first, now I am used to it and it is not such a big deal anymore. Been too lazy to reprogram so far :D customization is great, I switched keycaps, switched switches, modded stabs and dampened the hell out of it and now it sounds and looks really good. regarding bezels and angle: I think it is good, bezels defintely add style and sturdiness (and weight) and would recommend for K6, maybe not for the others necessarily. same for the slightly angled design. the boards are big and you probably want a wrist rest. but it IS possible to use them without. Also depends if you generally hover over your board while typing or not. I observed that I do that alot with my fullsize board which also has a wrist rest, but I hardly use it that way.

Been looking at Keychron a lot this year. My first impression was that they seem like good quality. I find the website difficult to shop. For me, makes no sense to have a backlit keyboard unless the key characters are translucent, and I prefer white lit over RGB. I was originally very happy with my Logi , and MAGEGEE keyboards, but no more. The Logi started losing LEDs in less than a year, and the A key on the MAGEGEE starting skipping, and buffering after a few weeks. And I'm easy on my keyboards too. So now I'm using the opaque keys from the MAGEGEE on the Logi, and with the backlighting turned off. This is because the Logi keys are unreadable without being lit. I also prefer no less than a 96% layout, and that makes a nice a minimalist layout with the K4

Got the K2. Great keyboard but I ordered the K1 to see if low profile is better for me.

I got the Keychain 2v2. Very nice departure from my Mac wireless keyboard. My only gripe screen shot often pops up unintentionally where it was not a problem with the Wireless Apple.

Lots of info in this video. I think I will stick with the Epomaker EP-84 that I got after watching one of your previous videos. It's been my daily driver 😂 ever since. Thanks....

All I do is change backslash to delete and pg up/pg down to volume up/down. And then throw delete in there somewhere

@@SwitchandClickOfficial oh, that's a pretty good choice, I never use pg up/down anyways, thank you!
