I definitely do prefer the clear (for orchids) pots inside clear cachepots, so I can see the roots and how much water's in there
@sassysucculent6291Ай бұрын
Same. I'm ordering some clear pots as well as self watering for the others and maybe I'll switch some of these little guys to clear pots as well.

you could add a layer of leca or pebbles at the bottom. oh yeah you got the pebbles... a small piece of netting perhaps?

I like the off brand of pond the lechuza smells like kitty liter and is very tiny! My plants like the chunkier pon better, I also put layer of leca on bottom all my 60+ alocasia love it! I will say rinse roots very well and ideally you should put alocasia in either fluval stratum or water to get water roots, from soil to pon they tend to droop and you’ll get dead roots in pon. Clear pots are the best to watch roots! Amazon has some great self watering pots for decent price or use clear orchid pots in a cover pot:) Merry Christmas 🎁🎄

Oh that's great to know! I've never actually had actual Lechuza so i didn't know that. And great tip, I will get some Leca and give it a try. Thank you so much for all the information, I truly appreciate it! I'm going to get those pots from Amazon also. Thank you much 🤍🙏🌱

I hope you didn't let the pon dust go down the drain. It will turn into a concrete type obstruction in your pipes

Yes rinse outside cost me $350.00 to unplug my drain line :(
@xTrengoАй бұрын
@@thumpaharley7564 it wasn't the pon, or it would also clump inside pots, which it doesn't.

@@xTrengogreat point! I don't think the tiny amount I did would cause any issues anyway but good to consider I guess

Clear pots are the way to go for sure!! It helps me out so much to be able to see what’s going on with the root system before things get too bad.

@@jessicabellone913 You are so right ! I really want all my Anthurium especially, in clear pots so I can see. As well as everything in pon. I feel that's so important.

You can 'lighten' pon with perlite. Well, I do anyways 😊
@sassysucculent6291Ай бұрын
@@Greenthumbreads thank you! I was wondering if I should mix any other amendments with the pon. I'll give perlite a go ! Appreciate the tips 🥰🌱

I also use a bunch of different size clear cups as self watering pon pots. You can customize them for what you need. Then I burn holes in the smaller inner cup, place a wick in the center (or without) and then put my nutrient solution in the larger cup. If you don’t want to go that route then just looking for self watering planters could be very useful. I haven’t finished your video yet but be prepared for some sad plants as they transition from soil to pon. Also, you’re supposed to top water your pon for the first few waterings before you start leaving the plants with a reservoir.
@sassysucculent6291Ай бұрын
@@jessicabellone913 omg thank you! You are out here doing the lords work 😭 lol! I have definitely experienced a couple plants rotting from the pon transition already 🥺 then others are doing fantastic. It's such a learning process! So I should top water and let drain for a while before leaving any water in reservoir? Thank you so much
@northernplantuckyАй бұрын
One of the benefits of pon is that you don't have to entirely remove all the old substrate. I've tried all leca a and I've tried all pon, and I found the answer to be a layer cake combo of aroid substrate, pon, with leca on the bottom since you've already done this in pure Pond I would recommend that you put a layer of moss on top of the plants that you've already repotted. There's no one-size-fits-all substrate for any plants.
@sassysucculent6291Ай бұрын
@@northernplantucky great advice, thank you so much. I really appreciate it!
@jessicabellone913Ай бұрын
I also do no drainage as well but always use a layer of leca at the bottom as a water guide and then place pon on top. There’s so much info online and I’m sure if you do your research you will be alright 😊

@@jessicabellone913 well after all your comments and advice I am purchasing some leca. I have looked into some things online regarding pon but I'm easily overwhelmed (majorly adhd). You can use mesh to cover the drainage so rocks don’t fall out lol. I use leca and then pon. It may not help you now but in the future.
