As someone who's been a Final Cut Pro user for a while now, I started trying out Premiere and I gotta say it's quite embarrassing how Premiere works better on my mac than FCP does. No lag, no random crashes, no delays and definitely no playback lag. Quite impressive and embarrassing at the same time. I do think I'll stick to FCP but maybe use Premiere from time to time. I really like the built in library of titles that's already included (which on FCP is Movie Maker garbage).

I'm also in the middle of a switch from FCPx to PP. But I get the educator discount on adobe since I worked for a university at one point. so it's $20 USD /month :) I went from a 2015 15" MBP to a Dell 5580 i7-7820HQ with 16GB ram

Trying the same thing. Been a Final Cut Pro user for 2 years. Fully used to it, but I really want to switch to Premiere or Resolve so I can use a Windows machine for editing.

@@FranklinReid_ Premiere is coming to M1 Macs soon, and it still works using Rosetta 2.
@FranklinReid_3 жыл бұрын
Oh yea for sure It will be native to the M1 mac soon hopefully, I ran it a few times when I first got my M1 mac mini (on Rosetta of course) and it was super buggy I've got to try it again and see if things have improved.

My first Apple computer was an eMac G4, back on September 6, 2003. It came with a whopping 1GHz CPU, 128MB SDRAM, and a 60GB HDD. This computer ran me $849.00 at the time (college-student pricing), and was one of my most memorable computers because it was so different from Windows.

I leveraged both for a long time, and yup now i'm on the M1 Mac mini with a bunch of broken FCX plugins XD
@thetiredtourist39273 жыл бұрын
@@FranklinReid_ ya the plug in thing is a pain, but I'm sure the major ones will all be available soon. What I really would like to know is can you use FCP to it's full extent, what I mean is, can you color grade and add a LUT, Stabilize a 4K 120fps slow mo... if it can then I'll buy one tomorrow.
@FranklinReid_3 жыл бұрын
The short answer is yes you can, I just did a video editing review but I tested out footage from my A7SIII ALL I 24/30/60p it and H.265 and it all edits smooth in FCX. I also tried R5 footage 8K Raw and the H.265 footage edits smooth as well. The footage just had a simple color grade, a look lut and a handful of transitions and effects added.
@thetiredtourist39273 жыл бұрын
@@FranklinReid_ My concern rose from the fact that a number of reviews mention stuttering ...but perhaps that speaks to their method of testing. Some test FCP on the M1 MacBook Pro, right on the computer itself, and others do what I believe to be a more real world test... that is, they run off an external drive and that is where my issues lie.

Your production quality is great but the title is deceiving. This is a product comparison video for pc vs mac not Switching from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere Pro. I'd like to see the same comparison but pc vs M1 Macbook. Those cost about $1500 and the spec are better than the macbook pro.

I have a question, that you may be able to answer since this is about 2 yrs old….. so I have the 5k iMac (2018) with 32GB of RAM, and a slightly above normal GPU. I essentially paid for the slightly nicer model than the base. I need to edit a music video done with the Black magic pocket cinema 6k in .bRAW. Now, im one of those, ‘drank the juice for so long that now idk if my computer is good enough, to do this edit. Ive also only edited in FCPX, so switching to premier is already daunting. But, can i get away with this edit if i proxy the imported data? Or is this not a good idea? Also, over time, do you still wish you went with the Mac Pro, or gappy you made the switch to a custom build?? Thank you for your time.

lol yea I get it that was a strong opinion, I just think because of all the extra tools inside premier pro like the audio editor and stronger color grading tools adjustment layers etc, its a more complete package. But you can do the same in FCX just needs a bunch of plug-ins. Spoiler alert I went back to FCX XD

Aziz JDI what are you trying to say? I get that you prefer Mac over PC but it seems like you’re hashing on Windows. It’s fine for you to express your opinion to others, but don’t try and say that Windows is horrible and everybody should switch to Mac, especially when you’ve given no evidence. I prefer windows personally, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to tell people that Mac is trash and garbage and try to manipulate them to buy a PC when they already have a Mac. Just share you opinion a little less harsh next time, man. Windows works perfectly fine and is superior imo
