Make sure you retorque the manifold bolts because they are famous for becoming loose from expansion and leaking. It just takes a few minutes. After running a short time of course.

@@AugustHunicke You should have showed the mess that you got from the double gasket on the oil filter. It would have helped other people that see the video. Nothing to be ashamed of brother, we’ve all been there. Congrats on your success of working on your car yourself. It’s very satisfying.
@AugustHunicke4 жыл бұрын
Dennis Abbott No mess yet. I’ll probably have to change the oil just to get the double gasket off though.
@denabbott694 жыл бұрын
@@AugustHunicke If it hasn’t blown out the gasket that’s stuck to the block yet, you’re extremely lucky. All you have to do is take the filter off and remove the gasket that’s stuck to the block and reinstall the filter. I would not start the engine until you do that because it will blow out the gasket and pump all your oil out of the engine and cause damage.
@AugustHunicke4 жыл бұрын
Will do. Lucky it’s filmed 😁

I enjoyed this series. I just bought an almost identical car, but with a 302. I was considering a four barrel swap, but the price of a carb kit is one tenth of the money and time. Also, can you tell my your paint code? And trim code? from the sticker near the drivers door. I could not tell if it was factory of aftermarket cruise control, but, I would have wanted to keep it if it was factory, since Rancheros don't usually come with a lot of factory luxury options.

I’m still watching but I’m yelling “please please get that old filter gasket off the block!!!” It looks like you screwed up though. The gasket should only be on the filter. Sometimes they come loose and stick to the block like yours did. You got a double gasket situation that usually makes them leak. Also, you don’t need any tools to install a new filter. Just a little muscle and your bare hands. The hair dryer made me giggle though 😂
