My first iPhone was the SE I'm still using. I helped my mom get her first smartphone over Xmas which ended up being an Android (she was being cheap) and I have no desire to return to that platform.. much more annoying than I remember.. ex.. editing notifications takes like 3x as many clicks as it does on iOS. Many other things are retardedly overcomplicated as well. Sure it can do a few more things but Android just isn't designed as well

Reasons I chose 8+ over ipx: 1. Honestly speaking because ipx didn't come in blush gold lol 2. I'm not into buying first gen products 3. Face ID didn't seem as reliable as touch ID 4. PRICE 5. This is my first iPhone after switching from Samsung. Extremely pleasant experience and it's safe to say I mainly switched after watching your channel lol. Thanks Drew! mote carlo I had an iPhone 8 for a while until I decided to try the x, not 8+ because I personally don’t like bigger phones. But I honestly was satisfied with both. the x doesn’t really feel like a plus sized model when using it, but that’s besides the point. I love the gold color too, I was pretty disappointed to see the X only come in silver and space gray and even more disappointed to see it not get product red with the 8. I still ended up making the silver X my daily driver though, I really like the design, display, and gestures. I will admit it’s not worth the extra $300 when the 8 is essentially the same phone, but I just personally prefer it and didn’t mind paying for it.

I have an iPhone 8 instead of 8 Plus, but to answer Drew’s question, I didn’t get the iPhone X because of cost. It’s not that I could not afford the additional monthly expense. I simply refuse to pay that much for a phone. Apple will always have lower cost options like the 8 or SE. People who say Apple is strictly a luxury brand ignore that fact for whatever reason.

I got the 8 plus space grey on launch date, and I use it for everything, from reading, music, social media and games, and the performance and battery life are off the charts. My favourite thing about it though, by far, is that in itself the phone is so great, I never find myself wondering about other phones. Before I could have the 6s and think - that 7 Plus looks awesome, or the Galaxy S8 seems promising, but now, to any new phone announced, my reaction is "Sweet!", but I never find myself even considering changing.

Mr Unknown just because something is new doesn’t mean it’s better and I wanted the best that iOS had to offer as of now. iPhone X is new and as such still very much in beta. I may give it a try in a few years when I upgrade but for now I’ll leave it to youngsters that value owning the latest over functionality. My main gripe would be Face I’d. Just the need of having to line your phone to your face to unlock is annoying and is something you need to do on everyone facial unlock device. You realise how much you just unlocked from your pocket or desk or any angle really when you can’t anymore. Get a notification while your phone is lying flat on your desk? You can't peer over to see it, because Face ID hides notification content until it sees you. Great for security but it seriously reduces your phone's glanceability. Lack of finger unlock was the main reason why I upgraded from the note 8 which contrary to reviews fixed their face unlock with a software update but the issues I mentioned are just downsides of face unlock in general and are the same with the iPhone X. The fact that they haven’t yet got pinch to zoom to just get rid of the notch. Instead when you pinch a video it reduces both sides of the video so you have black bars and a tiny screen is just bad software imo. I’m sure they’ll fix it as some point. Lastly the new gestures are clunky to use and just aren’t as fluid as the old ones. They are trying new stuff out and can’t be expected to get it right first time but I tried my friends and it’s seriously not good. Even the battery life isn’t as good on the iPhone X as it is on the iPhone 8 Plus. So all in all its not a upgrade my eyes.

Since the First iPhone came, I’ve pretty much been replacing them every two years. Not even really because of the newest features. I just like the apple ecosystem. I loved my 6s plus. And really wasn’t planning on updating to the 8 or X iPhones. But since my oldest daughter needed a new phone, I gave her my 6s plus. Now I was faced with a dilemma. 8 series or the X? I guess the major reason I chose the 8 plus was because it kept the finger ID. Finger ID has always worked flawlessly for me and I knew that I wouldn’t be needing all the extra specs X was bringing to the table. So I went with 8 plus and I wasn’t disappointed.

Previously owned iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 plus, then 7 plus. Upgraded to iPhone X. (Influenced by hype & reviews. My bad.) After three months, sold on eBay and replaced with iPhone 8 plus. Have to say straight up and in defence of iPhone X, it's not a bad phone. The physical size is great. The screen is amazing and FaceID (overall) was pretty reliable. So, why exchange? Well, I got sick of zooming videos to fullscreen and then find them cropped when viewing. Also, if upgrading from a wider phone, no matter how good the phone is, you will notice the thinner profile and smaller text. As a sports/bike rider, FaceID is a pain in the backside. Viewing wise, even after changing the 'font' settings, it didn't provide the same experience as my iPhone 7 plus. Additionally, IOS 10 & 11 seem better utilised to the iPhone 7 & 8. The menu on the iPhone X seems like an afterthought. I got used to it but still - didn't seem right. Anyhow, I've learned that mobiles are personal preference. The iPhone X is a great phone. It just wasn't for me. If I was coming from an iPhone 7 - maybe. If the iPhone X Plus rumours are true, I hope it's amazing....

Fingerprint ID is better for me and practically faster in general use, no notch. LCD tends to suit better to my eye and gives less strain than an OLED panel. Bezels help me to rest my thumbs on the phone and doesn't bother me at all. Battery lasts a tad bit longer for me. Bigger screen and no notch means YT, gaming and just generally everything is not being weirdly cropped from the top and media consumption is overall better. No weird gestures which will require me to reach at the top of the phone to access the control panel. Don't have to wait for previously used apps to show up by long pressing my thumb. Feels premium in my hands due to its weight. Flash is too near to both the cameras In the X and that's bad in low light shots with flash. Just some reasons why I think the 8+ is overall the best and most complete iPhone Apple has to offer for now.

Although I do not have any diagnosed skin condition I have found that every phone I have ever used required me to re-register my fingerprints frequently. While not several times per day usually every couple of weeks or sooner. The iPhone 7 plus that I had was probably the best at about every month or maybe 2 if I was lucky. Face ID for me is a game changer. It works for me probably 99% of the time or possibly more than that. I have maybe had it fail unexpectedly 2-3 times since November when I got it. Although OLED has many advantages the blue shift when viewing at an angle does somewhat bother me. The iPhone X has done a good job of minimizing this but it is still there. Good points about the notch. I usually do not like to stretch my videos because you lose some of the top and bottom. I have also noticed that some apps like Netflix will display wide content all the way to the edge of the notch which is way wider than 16:9. To me Face ID is enough to keep me on the iPhone X. Occasionally I will get a desire to go back to Android but then I use something like AirDrop and I say "well maybe not."

I also didn’t like the color shift from OLED but got used to it. I really disliked the rounded corners because even though they look nice and modern, they make it awkward for content. I also didn’t the aspect ratio of the X.

I am still on the 7 plus as well. Didn’t like the narrowness of the X and didn’t see a major enough leap in the 8 plus. I might be upgrading this year but really not seeing anything that grabs my attention phones have kind of plateaued. Really waiting for something like duel screen to really change how I use it. I don’t like wireless changing (to easy to knock off the charger as happens with my watch) so not sold on glass back. don’t mind no headphones jack cause I use my lg collar headphones (been using since my 6 plus. There are things like autoplay and data caps that are making look at going back to the Note this year

I dropped and chipped the screen of my 7 Plus earlier this week (4/23/18). There was also a hairline crack in it too that I didn't notice at first. I considered, prior to the break, getting the 8 Plus, but decided to wait until the new phones arrive later this year. After the drop Monday, I went and got a X. I'm surprised at how much I really like the phone! I really appreciate the gestures, the camera, and believe it or not, the notch. As you said, there's less clutter at the top of the screen as a result of the notch. Also, I picked up my old phone to do something the other night - the screen is just so dull in comparison to the OLED on the new iPhone. Now I wish I had gotten the thing when it came out!

As a blind user I like to have a home button. I tried to find how the home gesture works on iPhone X and I didn’t find out. I had difficulties unlocking my X. So I returned it and got an 8+ which I can access the home and unlock. So, I get your excitement about the X style of design, but it was a horrible experience for me that I am a bit scared for the future.

Yes, the internals are identical as are the back cameras. The only difference is the screen and FaceID. Much as I would like an OLED display, it’d need to be 16:9 with no notch on it. And I wouldn’t trade the faster Touch ID for the world. So I guess I’m still a couple years from upgrading.

4:13 it is impossible for an LCD display to have burn in, it can have clouding, stuck pixels, light bleeding, temporary image persistence, BUT NO BURN IN. Alle of the light stays on so if the light gets worse over time, the display will stay uniform.

I got the X the first day it launched and after a month i decided i missed the size of my 7 Plus and Touch ID so i sold my X and got the 8 Plus and i haven’t missed my X not one bit. Face ID isn’t convenient when you’re not looking directly at the phone and it’s a pain and to do when you’re grabbing your phone after just waking up but still lying down. What Tailosive thought was a Pro instead of a con with the small notification for screen record or maps being on in the top left i thought was a con because it was easy to not recognize so sometimes u May have forgot something was in use or didn’t know if it was in use. Overall i feel the 8 Plus is a better device and while i did like some gestures on the X i didn’t like it enough over the way u use the 8 Plus. I actually don’t plan on upgrading this year either. My 8 Plus is perfect for me honestly and i really don’t see the need to switch to the Plus version of the X this year and invest way more money into another phone just because it’s new🤷🏽‍♂️

I have the same issue for Touch ID not working all the time, especially in summer months, which can get annoying pretty fast. A trick that I use to overcome this is to go in Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and only disable "Use Touch ID for iPhone Unlock". Then scroll down and select "Require Passcode after 4 hours" so that you don't need to enter the code every time. Works great and Touch ID is still enabled for everything else.

However, now that I´m used to the X, even though I still enjoy using the 8+, I feel that it´s like going backwards and it just does´nt feel right anymore. I have the 8 Plus, personally would’ve be buying the X but the aspect ratio is just so much easier for watching videos and doing screen recording because (as a youtubeur) having the screen recording of your iPhone directly in 1080p, 16:9 is easer (so I know exactly what people will see) ! But I don’t know, if this years Plus model is sufficiently big I will probably switch to this one 😄 (exited to see😆)

I have psoriasis as well and it's more than just the redness on the surface of the skin. It causes inflammation internally as well which you obviously can't see. Zachary Wright the X has better color vibrancy, stainless steel, better cameras, ois on both, a larger aspect ratio and larger screen (not really but the aspect ratio is much larger) oled is far superior to lcd, faceid is great, you dont think about it Now... the 8+ is cheaper, and still great. Same chip inside. So, yeah. 8plus wins, but it comes down to preference

True. The aspect ratio on the iPhone X makes it an elongated smaller iPhone 8, not a shrunken iPhone 8 Plus, which has the largest display surface area of all the phones so most content is bigger on the iPhone Plus display and it’s easier to type on it. It has no notch to interfere with your experience and unlike the X, it has landscape mode.

I love using my 8 plus because of the surround sound speaker at the top of the phone makes the sound louder when watching a video. Love having Touch ID and I don’t have to hold my phone to my face to unlock it. Last but not least, the screen size!!! Including the bezels, it is much larger than the X and I like that.

What is the aspect ratio of the X if you start below the “ears” and go all the way to the bottom corner? It seems to me that landscape video content could be pushed all the way down to the bottom of the display, giving you just the bezel on the top. I suppose you’d have to make up for it in the side bezels.

As an old iPhone SE user, i really felt the phone was too small. The SE was small, but still fast. I just wanted a bigger phone, so i skipped the iPhone 6s and 7 and got the 8 Plus in Space Grey (LITERALLY 2 DAYS BEFORE THE RED ONE CAME OUT) and I still f@cking love this phone. I never had portrait mode on any of my phones, so i was super addicted to that. Also to answer your question on why I didn’t switch to the iPhone X. I wasn’t ready for the big step, because i feel like Touch-iD is still a bit more trustworthy then Face-iD. Obviously it was more expensive and better, but my home button is still the best for me.

I think the notch is absurd. If you think about it, the idea was to have a bevel-less phone and yet the image is interrupted by a notch so what's the point? You're getting a bigger image at the expense of not truly having a bigger image since you don't get the whole image, the notch eats part of it.

I returned my X for the 8 plus within 2 weeks. Major reasons: Screen width, Face ID processing time was inconsistent, often needed retries. I don't have any skin conditions so fingerprint scan works consistently fast for me.

I got the 8+ rather than the X for only two main reasons. One was that my old phone was starting to give out on me and I needed a new one pretty soon after the 8 launched, and the other was just price. I don't buy my phones up front, I've always financed them, and the X was still just going to cost me too much money a month than I thought I could pay. I love and prefer the design of the X, but otherwise the 8+ is still just as capable of a phone. I haven't yet decided if I'm going to go for the "X+" this year or just keep my 8+ yet though. Both options have their pros and cons.

I got the iPhone X, but didn't get used to it at all and sold it in favour of an 8 Plus. Never regretted that decision! I really didn't like the size of the X coming from both the 6 Plus and the 7 Plus, and Face ID did not sit as well with me as Touch ID (I love Touch ID). I haven't found many other people going this way (from X to 8), but I'm very happy I did :)

I was upgrading form the iPhone 6 and had decided I wanted a Plus model next go round. I considered the 7 but after researching the 8 I went with the 8 Plus 256K. Way more than I need but never ever have to worry about it. I don't mind Touch ID at all or the top & bottom bezels. I like the weight of the phone and the excellent battery life. Eventually I'll upgrade again and will very likely be getting the plus model of that new phone.

I have never been a fan of Apple products, but this was interesting to see how these two compared being launched almost side by side. I prefer the layout, design, variety, etc of android tech. Mainly I just prefer the Android based OS over what Apple puts out. I currently am running a One Plus 6 as my daily. Does it have every single flagship bell and whistle? No. However It does charge crazy fast, has a tried and true screen with the whole higher screen to body ratio going on, smaller notch than most phones with notches, faster face id than the iphone x, good waterproofing despite the lack of an official ip certification, decent camera, half the cost of major flagships, and is just about the fastest running phone especially when talking day to day performance. Wish you Apple fans the best as we all have our preferences for various reasons. I just never could stand the Mac or Apple products I had or their OS.
