Wished I’d seen this first before buying it. You are much more entertaining than the game. It’s not a hike, it’s not a camping trip, I do both in RL. You made my husband and I laugh thank you so much.

I think this might have been the video where I first found your channel a couple months ago, when I was looking for reviews of this game and some other little games that were on sale. And you rescued me from wasting money. I think the worst part of this game is that it can't be re-played, so even if someone could deal with the game's problems and get some enjoyment out of it, the non-replay-ability means basically that you're not even buying the game, you're renting it for one play-through. Who'd buy a DVD they can watch only once? And who'd buy a game they can play only once? That's not buying; that's renting.

Making people pay, even 5$, for a incomplete (or shitty) game on a official platform is either laziness or ignorance. And this doesn't help anyone because gamers end up being cold about trusting new game devs.

Yea I know what you mean, there are far too many devs releasing sub par games and it's hard to actually work out what is decent as the eshop listing often contain a load of bollocks. This is one of the reasons I started the channel. 😊

I unfortunately bought this without doing any research, after finishing it i kinda feel like it was made from left-overs of another game idea, since the game has nothing to do with hiking, or camping, there really isn't a story, and it certainly wasn't relaxing, the whole eShop description is awfully deceptive and overall i feel like it may have one point tried to be a survival game, since that actually makes more sense when you think about how this whole thing is cobbled together: Why is your car parked like you've crashed? why is there a map and binoculars by your camp you can't use? why are you looking for logs of firewood left on the grass when you could have just brought an axe? or why aren't you using the axe you find in the shed to chop down trees? why is said axe (and also a crowbar) shown in first person only to disappear once you've used them? (these are the only items that show up in first person.) why do you seem to pass hours (days even) when you go to the "next level"? why do you enter a factory only to be sent out of a cave? why have a giant area with a lake and yet not make it explorable? why are there two cars on fire up the road by your car? because these are all parts of a scrapped game idea scavenged and put together to make 'Hike', then sold to a publisher that doesn't give a shit, so they can sell it to the masses, or at least that's what i think. Maybe i've just stated the obvious, maybe i've sniffed too much glue and eaten too much of my cats food again, either way, this game sucks donkey ass and i hope Nintendo implements a system for refunds so people don't end up being scammed like this in the future.

Another great review & funny but fyi, live trees don't burn ;) You're like the kickstarter crap of the switch eshop. Hopefully the algorithm gives your channel the eyes it deserves. I do have a question though, what's a "used Johnny"? I've never heard anything close to that in the states.

Hahaha. Its a case of Great Review, shame about the game. As Shovelware goes this is pretty bad. In most Shovelware I can usually find something that is okish and I might return to, when I am bored. But this....... Ah well, thanks for saving my time and money. Got to see pretty much the whole game anyway in a much funnier fashion 😂. Nice job 👍

Yea to be honest, most Shovelware also has an element of replayabiliy or some kind of gameplay mechanic /story which makes it an actual game. I love walking simulators but this is about as empty as they come. What you saw Was the whole game lol 😁

there's this game/creation tool on ps4 called Dreams in which you can create games, art, music, etc. you can easily create better stuff there than this piece of dumpster juice lmao a short hike is a game i do recommend, though. it's short but imo a very memorable journey.

Hey Dih, I loved the look of Dreams, never got to play it though, I enjoyed playing levels in Little Big Planet. I agree I think I could make something better in about a hour lol. Yea I need to play a Short Hike, heard a lot of good things about it.

@@SwitchStars i used to create stuff there. i have a few videos on my "channel" with things i've done there. Dreams is absolutely amazing and it has one of the best communities i have ever found in a videogame. lots of very helpful people and some of them are insanely talented. and yea, you should give it a go one of these days. you will finish it in about 3h but those hours are time well spent. the ending is very sweet too.

Yea there were some fantastic levels in LBP, I'd love to play some dreams at some point, bet there are some great creations. I will get around to playing A Short Hike this year at some point, will keep an eye out for a sale on it.

@@SwitchStars lbp was part of me growing up, man. i miss those times! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gH6wnWmanZ6rg6c just take a look at this mindblowing creation. looks way better than Hike and it was created with a dualshock ahahah let that sink in! another indie that i think got overlooked is yoku's island express. i think both games can be found for like 4.99 on sale. two of my fav indies on the switch that i highly recommend.

How do games like this get on the e-shop? It looks and terrible. It looks not even half finished and amateurish. I bet some people would buy it. This kind of game should not be allowed on the e-shop. Compare this to the brilliant 'A Short Hike'. Great review, games like this should be torn to pieces.

There are so many games like this that make it onto the e-shop, usually because publishers are able to get them on there for the developers, the worst are the asset flips from the likes of PixArts, they literally do nothing to create them apart from buying assets and exporting them to Switch in Unity.

Tried that, regrettably not, but with all the collision bugs I have no doubt I could have found a way, though I doubt the ground down there would have had any walkable terrain.
