April in Switzerland - Weather, Activities, Events

April is the first month of spring in Switzerland. You can travel to Switzerland in April if you like to see the weather change from winter to spring and if you like to admire nature waking up again. The weather in April is usually not predictable at all. You can expect both sunshine and rain in one day and sometimes there is heavy snowfall as well.
Because the seasons are changing, your activities are somewhat limited. You can still go out and ski, but the snow is not always fresh, also it is still a bit cold for hiking and you will find a lot of snow in the Alps. You can however enjoy the bloom in the cities and see the people going outside again to enjoy the sunshine.
Also, the Swiss celebrate the coming of spring with an event in Zurich called Sechseläuten.

Thank you for all your great videos. I have a video idea for you that would be very helpful to me and many others I'm sure. Anytime we travel to Europe I am needing cell phone service. So I'm always searching for what company is the best one to buy a SIM card to go in my cell phone for cell phone service while I am there. I need to look up some things on the Internet but it's mainly for navigation. It would be awesome if you did a video on what cell phone providers Switzerland has and which ones you would recommend for travelers needing to use their cell phone. You can visit Mt Titlis in April and there will be snow! However the ski season has ended by then 😊

Hey Christopher, you are living the dream of a lot of Swiss! We don‘t really prepare for winter as it is not that extreme like in Russia, Canada or Antarctica 😄 yeah there are some preparations in the Alps but the majority is done by repairing the damage in spring.

Its difficult to say as most ski resorts close by then. However zermatt is open as one of the last ones!

You can see snow, although it‘s low season in the mountains! Make sure to head to resorts with high altitide and mountains that are high!

@@bubblegum1709 yeah if you go in April, that's about one of the only ones that is still open ;-) it will not be hot, the snow will have seen better days, but you get to ski in view of stunning Matterhorn so you will forget about these other things!

Hey Randall, generally yes. But it depends on how the numbers in the US evolve. There can be restrictions or quarantines coming up we dont know at the moment. If you want to avoid the crowds then I would avoid the time when there is summer holidays. However, if you come during the summer holidays a lot of locals will have gone abroad so there is a balance somehow 😉 the only month I would not necessarily come is in November as it‘s transition perdiod in the Alps and a lot of things are closed.
