At first I thought you were talking about ‘Lady Seated at Her Needlework’ and I got excited because that will be my 2025 start. It’s definitely my style too. I’m starting a wall in my sewing room of antique ladies and I would love to stitch ‘the fitting’.

HNY Carla! Helen here from Virginia. I purchased an omanik frame from their website. I believe they are in Estonia. I put my HAED Turandot on it. Yes, you must purchase the scroll and stretcher bars. They explain how to calculate the width of the scroll bar. They are lovely frames and a bit pricey. Fabric stays taut. Great for large projects. I love my qsnap, but I must figure on a clamp stand for it. I prefer two hands for stitching.

I hope that Lowery replace the clamp, free of charge as a gesture of goodwill particularly as you have not had it for long. I bet they are keen to get it back to see if it is a manufacturing fault on their part. I have one of the first Lowery frames made and it came with a corner clamp. Ten years later I noticed side clamps were available and I bought one. I use a wooden 20" frame adapter which helps with weight distribution when using large frames. Available from Siesta frames @ £30 or from Lakeside needlessly @ £34. I can recommend this adapter. Mine is permanently fixed to the clamp. I undo the top wooden bit of the adapter to get the frame out. The Omanik stand looks nice but takes up a lot of room. I watched Crafty Lisa you tube video on it. One video on assembly of the stand and one video on using it. It's called a Monstrick stand. One last word on frames. I use millennium frames and Nurge scroll frames and the side bars and the scroll rods are interchangeable on both makes. The Nurge scroll frames are more readily available and are on the Nurge website.

I have a Lowry and use the corner clamp on my 11x11 q snap and I prefer it to the side clamp. I also have the extender for use with my wooden scroll frames as it does give more support but it can be cumbersome.

Im also doing the SAL. Im team Merry Red. I did set goals because I want to meet the challenge of the SAL. I actually would like to finish the whole chart by year end. I have 22,932 for this first quarter which is about 255 stitches a day to get it done by April 1st. I had off a few more days by the time we got the chart so I have been stitching as much as I can before I go back to work Friday so that I dont get behind. So far I have stitched 1714 stitches and Im going to keep going. I know I will have less time when I go back to work. I love stitching with you. See you soon.

I loved your bus story and I do believe in coincidence as well. A couple a days before my mom passed away there was a dove sitting in the windowpane, every day at about the same hour. She kept telling me that it was here dad (who also passed away some time ago) coming to get here. Eversince my mom passed there's a little, young, dove sitting on my windowpane. I’ve never seen it before and it seems like that dove keeps following me 😂. If I'm in the bathroom than she comes to sit at that window, if I’m in bed she is sitting outside on that windowpane. Coincidence or not... I like to believe it’s my mom coming to check up on me!

Hi Carla, great progress. I'm stitching along with you on my Bernadette and it's such a nice stitch. No confetti but enough colour changes to keep things interesting. How is that on yours? Cause I think if they're all this much fun....I want to stitch them all😅

my goals for the sal are to complete the chart so I can get 2 free charts 😅 I also have the lowery, and I like my corner clamp because it holds my 17x20 inch qsnap no problem. I like the corner clamp because I am also confused by the omanik/scroll frame set up. for my lowery, I know they sell a maintenance kit, so you brush some wax on those metal threads

I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to use WD -40 on a Lowery. Mine came with instructions to use a good furniture wax. I have needed to use the wax and it works great. My lowery is the stainless steel model. Maybe the different compositions require different products.

Oh our buses are wretched. They are pretty much an all day affair just to go to one place and you have to share the bus ride with every gang member in the city. So after riding around all day, you get home late at night and hopefully you arrive home untouched and alive. No, I'll take my car!!! The public transport in the states is AWFUL. You Brits are lucky to have the train, the tube and the bus systems you have. So lucky.

Same! I have to walk 15min to the bus stop and the stop is like a 45 min wait and depending on the route you are taking and depending on the spot on the route you get on you have to ride half the route back. It takes 6 hours to do two different stops if you want to get off and on for different things. I don't have to worry about gang members so I'm sorry that you have to put up with that.
