Shirakawa sensei’s Aikido is dynamic and beautiful. It's a revolution in Aikido. He is a new generation of Aikido masters. I have been following him for many years. I want to attend his international seminar as soon as possible.
Aikido was born from the Katana. The Sword Arm. The Sword Hand. The Sword Mind. The Beauty of Aiki.

A truly great sensei. He certainly plants the right seeds in his students for them to develop and achieve this high level of Aikido. I wish I could have such quality practice in my country. Arigato gozaimasu sensei for your teachings and videos.
The teacher makes the difference with great teaching and the student makes the difference with great practicing. This video and dojo is a very fine example of true aikido. Thank you for sharing. I am going to work in Oregon soon. I hope to find an aikido dojo that would be affiliated with this dojo

Добрый день. Хорошо видно как много труда и заботы Сиракава-сенсей вкладывает в своих учеников. Это вызывает большое уважение к нему.

I started Aikido in my late 20s/ early 30s and I think that worked better for me. I remember taking judo as a child and being bored of it. However Aikido as an adult was utter fascinating. I was compelled be the way aikdo allowed me lo see the world differently and I was ready for a new direction in life. Aikdio feels like it as much of a study of geometry and physics, as it feels like a martial art. Don't get me wrong, I very much respect Aikido as a martial art but it informs your world view and and is a practical tool, much like modern physics, mathematics and chemistry are. Albert Einstein said that his happiest moment in his light was when he dreamed of a man falling off of a ladder and came up with the equivalency principal from it. The equivalency principal states that there is no practical difference between standing on the ground and sitting in a rocket pulling a constant 1 g of acceleration. I feel that Aikido taught me about gravity and free fall in practical ways that made me feel like I now understand general relativity better because I was thrown to the floor so many times. I feel like I understand protons an electron better because I was exposed to the polar roles of nage and uke. Aikido, it's a study of the nature of reality.

So you ditched Judo, a much more practical art, for Aikido. I'm not bashing Aikido, but I feel that in self defense situations Judo has more benefits. Sure Aikido can teach you to deal with certain weapons, but a lot of Aikido schools don't even teach you that the moves are supposed to represent armed attacks. I find it weird how clueless supposed black belts in the art don't even understand its origins and think it's for a fist fight

That is a constant reality. To be in that physical state all the time. Slow the breathing. Slow the mind. Slow the Spirit. Slow time. As we say. Slow is Fast. As a runner. I’ve learned to really slow my breathing. I run longer and easier.

I initially found it odd that Shirakawa Sensei emphasized that people in the workforce would still practice aikido. Then I realized that being a worker/employee in Japan totally sucks. Work plus commute may easily consume all your waking hours (which is also why Japanese wives are extremely unhappy).

Modern weaponless attacks are not like attacks holding a sword/machete, a jo/stick or a baseball bat.
@jestfullgremblim8002 Жыл бұрын
Indeed you are right. But like he said, these techniques are not meant to be used as is. They are more like concepts, ways of training! Have you see boxing practitoners punching the speed bag? Doing so helps them in many ways, but they do not actually punch like that in Boxing matches or real fights

Akido is effective against Fully Armored Opponents in battle. It isn't effective against one on one Kick Boxing
@FreeSalesTips Жыл бұрын
Aikido is effective at weaponless attackers such as a kick boxing attacker. The biggest problem is that aikido defenders have a low level of consciousness such that their skill is incomplete when dealing with the timing and distances of the weaponless attacks. It's not so easy to comprehend the punching movement and the kicking movement when your normal training doesn't have you experience the timing of punch and kick movements. So what can aikido practitioners (those who are interested in self-defense applications) do about this lack of consciousness? One way is to increase exposure to these timing and distances by studying a form of unarmed fighting combat. The founder of aikido had already mastered a few schools of martial arts before he encountered the martial art style that preceeded aikido; the founder of aikido already had considerable martial art consciousness before he started aikido.

@@FreeSalesTipsexactly! And more so, his initial students also had training in other martial arts as well!! I've heard that you required some sort of recomendation from a known teacher in order for Morihei Ueshiba to accept you as a student of his
@FreeSalesTips Жыл бұрын
@@jestfullgremblim8002 In the early years of his teaching career, Ueshiba required his students to be recommended by the masters of their martial art, he also required the students to be a high grade at their martial art. At this time, Ueshiba used atemi during his aikido training and considered atemi the main foundation and the prelude to applying aikido techniques. Over time Ueshiba stopped using atemi during training, he also loosened his policy to students allowing students of all skill levels to study under him.
