Episode 8 was actually 1 and 1/2 episodes combined into one (8 and the first half of 9). They took around 40 minutes of content and crammed it into 16 minutes of video. I think I'd call that abridging.

Well here's the thing. Abridged Kirito sees people as the whole. Yea people and society for the most part is a great big fuck up that may actually take an extinction level event to change it as a whole. But he's finding that he's starting to care for people as the individual which is what Sachi represents as the person who really hasn't brought any harm to the world and may have actually made it better had they been given the chance. A because as it's been said, 'you can trust a person to do the right thing but be warned about trusting the masses.'

n8 I never said he "should" act like that. To keep this simple, the creators of the abridged Kirito gave him that personality in order to create the story they are aiming to do. Kirito uses his snarky personality as a shield; he doesn't like admitting he cares about people. It's his way of coping to how the real world is. Also, just because one normally doesn't act like that in person does not mean that other people do not act like that elsewhere.

Idk I like the original better than abridged still despite a lot saying otherwise. Kirito definitely didn't have that much character development (maybe none) but doesn't mean he doesn't have character. It's just that it matured when the anime started so his character feels boring. Unlike mob psycho 100 where mob's development is very clear and obvious throughout the series kirito was already a steady and consistent character, which also means he already had a mental standing. I really liked the concept and storyline of SAO, the fight scenes were pretty cool. The characters are really interesting. Probably only thing I hate about it is that they finished aincrad on ep13 and then the fillers after ggo on s2.

Genocydical the thing about the character development is that, it will get you invested in the characters and make you actually care about them. I’m not saying SAO is bad, I actually liked the original, but after watching it made me feel like I wasn’t satisfied with what I spend my time watching, and bland characters that have no other defining feature than being “good” cause you’re the main character or being “evil” cause you’re a villain makes them feel less real and just ‘bland’ and boring, and in my opinion SAOA does that better than SAO, and that’s why I think SAOA is better than the original.

I think this show was made for the many people that disliked Sword Art Online. I can tell that Blind Wave aren't major anime watchers so they don't actually get what people thought about the show. Ok so SAO polarized people into two groups: those that absolutely loved it and those that hated it. Very few were in the middle ground (like me). This abridged is focused mainly for the people that disliked the show. It makes fun of Kirito for being unstoppable and simply being an overpowered character (in this episode Klein says: "oh great another skill that you can hold over us"), many people had that issue. Another is that Kirito is overly nice and a cliched character that simply does good and can do no wrong, leading him to be boring, the show changes that by making him an asshole. Another is that every girl wants to get with him, in the abridged they all turn him down (except Asuna). So yeah this was made for the people that disliked the show. I thought the show was alright.

Basically they rushed and skipped too much content during the time they were stuck in Sword Art Online. Watching the Abridged was interesting because I got to view a new perspective of the anime with different character personalities, some more character development, some interesting changes, and plenty of good laughs.

To be fair, the original Kirito didn't feel like a real person either. He lacked a definitive personality trait. He just happened to always be in the right place to perform his typical heroics. The original character was also basically the embodiment of wish fulfillment and he mainly was made that way so that the show's target audience (teen and preteen boys) could experience having a harem of hot chicks and being a badass that can do anything. He was not so much a character as he was a concept. This Kirito has one trait that defines him in the beginning that stems off into several other defining characteristics as the series gets longer and Kirito gets more development (something that Reki Kawahara could learn from).

i'll be interested to see he thinks by watching sao, simply because kirito has no growth or personality in it. you can make all the arguments that sao was batter,but the creator of the series stated him self, that he made kirito too perfect and he has no depth or character. its the entire reason he's slowed down writing the rest of sao, is rewriting sao from the beginning, and started a new story around a super imperfect character, which is called 'accel world'. Say what you want about the jokes and over all feel of the abridge, but sao kirito is NOT a better character then abridged kirito... that's not how it works...

+xXzman9000Xx Accel world isn't new... I think the original work came out even before SAO. In that one I think people were complaining that the character was too "imperfect", and that no one had that many faults. Thus Kirito. The problem I have with the author is that he over-corrects. If people criticize him for doing one thing, he flips around and does the polar opposite, which people complain about too. That's why I really like Progressive. Kirito, to me, seems like a much more likable and relate-able character. He's just a 14 year old kid who likes puns, has a bit of dark humor, and is kind of introverted. And Asuna doesn't flip from being a badass heroine to a defenseless nobody. She stays badass, just gradually becomes less and less hardcore in her mind-set.

nope, accel world came second. you have it completely backwards and aside from it being easy to google this information, there are many references in accel world to sao, bringing up the possibility that they take place in the same world, but 20 - 30 years later. (accel world being many years after sao) the first novel of sao was released 6 months before the novel of accel world. so why its close, sao did come first.

The Accel World Light Novel came out AFTER SAO, but it got adapted into an anime before SAO

Really, I think one of the biggest reasons I love this series is that they don't rely on vulgarity for every single joke, which seems to be a big pitfall for abridged series. For me, dirty jokes are good in doses, and they're really funny when used sparingly. Not to say that I don't enjoy something like Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, when I'm in the mood for it, because it's still really well written and acted.

I don't like the original series too much (I don't hate it either). but i want to whine about one of the reasons, being that the side characters aren't even slightly important. Silica gets one episode, then is a harem member for the rest of the series. Liz Gets one episode, then is a harem member for the rest of the series. Sachi Yeah this is sad for like, 3 episodes, then is never mentioned again. Sugu is (kind of) important for the ALO arc, but just becomes irrelevant after it. Sinon from the second season is cool for GGO, but again, becomes a harem member after it's over. That's my opinion at lest, and I respect everyone else's but like really... use characters if you have them. Also the light novels are pretty good.

As a fan of Sao and Sao abridged I'd have to say I like Sao abridged and rather have it as the real anime for many reasons 1 less plot holes 2 more character development and 3 Kirito actually feels something so sachis death in the regular anime they just dismiss it entirely and make it look like Kirito has 0 emotions don't get me wrong I enjoyed the anime but story wise the abridged tbh makes more sense logically and has way less plot holes and mistakes

I mean for the lenght thing, some of the newer DBZ abirdged episodes also go on for about as long as these ones do, not as many of course but it does happen. The main reason usually being that the episode needs to have some story to it so its not just humor. Its true DBZ abridged does the story/humor mix better, and that SAO abridged tries more to be humor then story, in the end i find its okay to be longish if it helps with the story and such, as for the "repeating" jokes or so, i think the main reason you guys hate that is because you don't really like the humor in the first place, which is fine btw, like many people said humor is an opinion really, what you like/hate is different from us, but i dont think its the length and instead its just not liking the jokes in the first place so you're noticing how long they go on for compared to a joke you like so hearing it go on longer wouldn't bother you as much. Once again though its fine if you guys like it/not like it, its all opinion.

Dual-Wielding is a unique skill awarded to the player with the greatest hand-eye co-ordinated reflexes in the game, since that is the only way someone could feasibly dual-wield swords competently. Kirito earned that skill and supposedly there are other skills that are uniquely awarded too, like sword-throwing or wearing extra armour layers.

In the Abridged series, Kirito gets dual wielding from beating a guy who had 2 axes. In the actual series, Kayaba reveals dual wielding is a skill only rewarded to the player with the fastest reaction time. And later on in the series, Kirito and Asuna meet a player named Yuuki, who managed to beat Kirito in combat. And Kirito says if she was trapped in SAO with them at the time, _she_ would've been given that skill.

It's been a while since I watched the anime, but I believe Kirito has the dual wielding ability as the result of maxing out his agility, or having the best agility in the game. Kinda like one of those final level rewards for being the best in a certain field; strength, speed, agility, power, ect.

There was originally supposed to be many Unique Skills but all but 2 were cut, Duel Wield was awarded to the player with the highest Reaction Time along with Heathcliffs' Holy Sword Excaliber for the highest Defense, Klein was supposed to recieve a Unique Katana Skill but was cut

im late for this video coming out but i believe that the reason kirito got dual weild was because he had the highest agilty naturally in the game and was awarded with a player bonus based skill so basically only he could get it and yes there was someone else who dual wielded axes but that wasnt explained

I have been trying really hard to watch this as I love you guys reactions and I love SAO abridged reconstruction of the series into something with an actual arc and progress. But it jsut gets so frustrating to hear you guys talk while clearly not getting what is happening. Yes, Kirrito is an ass, yes the series doesn't shorten the show by mutch (wich is not the point of an abridged btw, it long since hasnt been anymore). But thats the point. Because it allows him as a flawed character to grow slowly out of that. I mean you can already see how the death of his guild is now his driving force to help others even if he tries to resist that.

Thanks guys for the reaction. Maybe try Devil is a part-timer abridged. there is only 10 episodes and only 1 is over ten minutes. I'm pretty sure you don't need to watch the original to understand it either.

um possible spoiler alert but in the second "season" they explain how the dual-wielding skill is awarded to the player with the fastest reaction time if 2 people have the same reaction time they both get the skill.
