For those wondering, the power surge at the end of Alicization Episode 24 damaged Kirito's Fluctlight, putting him into a coma in Underworld. Hence the reason Asuna travels into Underworld to begin with.

Because it's not well adapted and because anything that is popular gets unfair hate. From my view,SAO anime series are objectively good because of huge commercial success,choice of music and extremely enjoyable fight scenes and characters. From view of critics or anime fans with high standards,it's bad anime due flaws in plot's writing,pacing and character development. Adapting light novels completely,every single line and page from it costs a tons of money,there is thing called a budget. Also,if anime series followed light novels perfectly,anime would have very slow pacing.

@Othinus Chan Thats not quite what was said. Reki said that when he's writing a new arc like UR he has to fight the compulsion to bring back Eugeo and the young Alice. Since he needs to consider whats best for his story. Bringing Eugeo back would essentially invalidate all of War of Underworld and the suffering Kirito goes through as a result of his death. Kiritos mental breakdown and suicide attempt would basicallu be completely pointless if Reki brought Eugeo back.

I have no idea what the opening for the next season of SAO Alicization is going to be like but somehow, I kind of like the idea of a scene with the ghost of Eugeo hugging Kirito that's a bit similar to the one of Irisviel Von Einzbern hugging Kiritsugu Emiya in the second season opening of Fate/Zero. That would be sweet IMO.
