Sword Beach Video Tour

A tour of Queen White and Queen Red sectors of Sword Beach, where the 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment and the 1st Battalion South Lancashire Regiment stormed ashore in front of Objective Cod on the morning of 6th June 1944 in the first assault wave.

My Dad landed on Sword with the 2nd Battalion Middlesex regiment. In September of this year I followed in his footsteps from Sword beach to Bremen. Very Very sobering and humbling experience. Thank you

My dad landed on that beach on June 11, 1944 with the US 2nd Armored Division.

My grandfather landed at Sword, went on to Pegasus Bridge. He was in Normandy for three months, went back for the Ardennes offensive in December, then back again for the Rhine crossing. He was in the Baltic area linking up with the Russians when the war in Europe ended in May. So glad I got to know him well. My hero.

My dad landed here with 2nd East Yorks at 7.55am on D Day. Wounded mid-August and returned to UK. Was not fit enough to return to active service so served the rest of the war in logistics.
