Second of all we have bits of surviving "textbooks" used to teach children literacy with phonetic marks included. So we actually do know how the language is supposed to sound. With Matt Easton, while there are many things we will likely never know about the physics of battle in the age where hand to hand combat predominated, scholars like him are the best glimpse into that world we can get, thus why he can justifiably be called a master of his craft.

Totally agree that they should have armed / armoured Wun Wun, and it would have not taken much to do so. Take a house door and fix straps to it, one giant sized shield, then a stout branch or tree trunk for a weapon and he would have been unstoppable. As for Ramsay not seeing Sansa's approach. He might have been aware that an army from the Vale were in the area, but believing that they would move at the speed of the slowest units (i.e. infantry), he thought they were too far away to reach the battle field in time. Given that it was just cavalry that took part in the battle, it could be that they left their infantry support behind in order to get to the battle in time, thus moving faster than Ramsay allowed for.

Henry's army was at a lower elevation. The french knights were charging downwards. The problem was the forest to the sides and the extremely muddy ground. Even a downward charge was very slow, with many horses and men downright getting stuck while the arrows pummelled them. The French got lured in by Henry thinking he made a rookie's mistake by positioning his army downhill. But it was a trap. Forests to the side, simple palisades to the front, mud beneath and arrows above. It was a near perfect kill zone.

The key to avoiding arrows would be to change your velocity after they fire. if you "zigzag" too efficiently you still have a 50/50 chance of getting hit by the same arrows

Well in reality once you've reached a certain distance you could just slow jog backwards and watch for when he fires and then take a single step to the side. In fact even if it was a single shot rifle, if you could see when its fired, at a certain distance the bullet takes longer to arrive than you would take to move to the side. If you know you are about to be fired upon it becomes a matter of luck for the shooter to hit you. For example an assault rifle fires perhaps 800meters per second. A human running fast can easily move faster than 10 meters per second. So if you were 800meters away from a guy with a rifle who can only fire one shot before reloading, it would be impossible to hit deliberately, since he'd have to guess your location in one seconds time perfectly. Unlike bullet arrows are much slower and can be seen as well as it being visible the very moment he releases the bow, you could just play dodgeball with him really. An arrow is only 3-4times faster than a ball thrown in dodgeball. So even at dodgeball distances x4 you'd have a decent chance at dodging it. Which means even at less than 100 meters.

For johns defence regarding the shield, you who has trained using shields. If someone is aiming a bow at you, how do you pick up the shield fastest possible. Remember it’s not your own shield and it’s a random shield laying around but you need to pick it up extremely fast as there is a arrow heading your way on 3…2..1 ;)

Sorry, but y miss most crucial point in friendly fire thing - majority of horsemen are rich noble people, who can afford horse and weapons and armor (count each one as a premium class car nowadays). as for Ramsay not getting any notice of Sansa and the army of the Vale, he could have very well sent scouts out, and they got caught & killed or just captured. but Ramsay is also the very arrogant, self-assured type who tends to laser focus on things that catch his interest, so it's certainly possible he neglected to send out scouts because he's convinced of his own victory and of the Bolton's control over the North.

Pikes are inherently two handed though due to their length, it's why they're great for defending key positions or against charges. Besides which you can literally look up Pikes as weapons and see that they would completely need two hands since they're like twice the height of a normal man.

the best season were the earlier seasons because they had no money to pull this dumb set pieces so they glossed over them as in a theatre play and dealt with the outcomes instead of boring you with pointless 40 minutes of dumb "action"

Yes they can, if you make something ridiculously out of line, your show is going to get grilled. Even the poorest soldiers wore head protection in battle, not that difficult to afford a sallet or kettle helm
