Even though I am still a loyal Chicago Bulls fan from 1992 - to the present day of the here & now, Everyone should admit that the Detroit Pistons were the best defensive team that wouldn't give the heavily favored L.A. Lakers absolutely no chance to rally back from being down a 3-1 deficit of game 5 in the 2004 NBA Finals. - Still dislike & hated to see the Kobe/Shaq era came to an end by the Spurs at the 03 western semi-finals then the Pistons of the 04 Finals & afterwards the Los Angeles Lakers would never be the same again when the 05 season began but sadly, they did not make it to qualify for the playoffs. The Lakers return for redemption to the NBA Finals in 2009, 2010 & 2020 & have achieved 17 titles in franchise history matching amongst the Celtics of 2008...... Actually Scratch That!!!! The Boston Celtics won banner championship number 18 of 2024. Heroes come & go, But legends are forever remembered from the 1980's, 1990's to early 2000's era. Nowadays it's about 3's, money & the league as we all know it is just too soft. And this was way back when superstars don't need to be jumping around to form super teams at all whatsoever. If you want to be the next best player, Remain loyal to your squad considerably no matter what happens & not switching from team after team by chasing for cheap rings.

The once great going to work era detroit pistons were absolutely so close at achieving for back to back championships making history but unfortunately, the spurs of san antonio have annihilated their hopes & dreams of being a potential dynasty through games 5 & 7 of the 2005 NBA Finals but still though, both teams played very well way back then. This squad have made 6 trips to the eastern conference finals from 2003, 04, 05, 06, 07 - 08, made two NBA Finals appearances at 04 to 05 in the mid 2000's of the league & then we all fast forward to that 2010 era many years later, they were turned into a laughingstock without winning a single postseason series, missing the playoffs thanks to their devastating yet spectacular & disappointing collapse of the franchise..... & rebuilding 23 years later. (3 × Time NBA World Champions - (1989, 1990 & 2004). The Pistons were once known as the Going to Work Era from 2001 - 09 & now they are the trying to rebuild era of 2010 - present day. Only to make the playoffs twice in 2016 to 19, Annihilated & swept from the 1st round.

Im a Lakers fan but I hated this pistons team and this loss hurt even more than 2008. Even though the Celtics were rivals. That team was absolutely stacked and a defensive juggernaut. I knew the Lakers would lose. Besides the big 3 were all players I liked before Allen, Pierce and KG. Also I liked Doc Rivers because I remembered him when he was the coach of the magic with tmac another player I liked. But this pistons team full of nobodies beat my Lakers with 4 future HOFers that made me so mad because I felt bad for Gary Payton and Karl Malone especially. I hated them so much I even rooted for the spurs next year lmao. But now I'm older I can appreciate how good this team was. They played as a team and that's why they were good as long as they were.

I feel the same about the 1987 Minnesota Twins. I thought the Tigers would make light work of them. Boy was I wrong: the 85-77 Twins, with Puckett Gary Gietti, Viola, Reardon, Blyleven, Gladden, and Co, were a very good team. Hated them back in 87, but can really appreciate them now.

The Detroit Pistons have one three championships in your lifetime (1989, 1990, 2004). The Red Wings have won four Stanley Cups over that timespan (1997, 1998, 2002, 2008) and the Detroit Tigers won a World Series in 1984. The Detroit Lions, however, are still just the Detroit Lions.
