The brutal description of how Dennis Nedry dies in the book comes off way more as something Stephen King would write. Goddamn....blinded by a paralytic venom then disemboweled by a Dilophosaurus is a hella scary way to go.

I read the novel when I was 11 and the intestines falling out gave me trauma because of the description of what they felt like combined with the line about his skull cracking. They don't spit venom in the novel, its saliva as all the animals have white foul smelling saliva

Same I read it in fifth grade and I remember wanting to skip the page but forcing myself to read it anyway. I also remember my teacher talking about how the book wasn't for kids and that I should stop reading it but I read it any way

Dilos are my favorite dinosaur (in JP universe and irl). This scene is one of my favorites, mostly because a lot of people I meet never read the novel and are astounded by this description compared to the movie.

The scene from which the dilophosaurus attacked Nedry was more scary than gruesome compared to the novel's description though I will say would I like to see a more bloody and horror scene like in the book heck yeah great video.

I doubt that the Jurassic series would follow in the footsteps of gore and horror (but a faithful film adaptation of the book would be something amazing). In my opinion, you should be interested in "Primitive War" which, if filmed and done well, can be a competition for the Jurassic franchise

The books are so crazy! In the first book Hammond is the one that gets eaten by the compys. And in the Lost World Dobson gets eaten by baby rexs. My mom and I read the first one together when I was 8, but she wouldn't read or let me read the graphic parts. I've gone back and read it several times since then. But now I want to go back and read them again!

Although unrelated to dinosaurs,I found out the hard way that stick insects spray acid from their tails! I remember when I was little seeing a big green one on the porch,I got close to look at it,then suddenly,a searing pain in my eyes,the thing had sprayed me,and the smell was very distinct,an almost minty,herby smell,luckily it only temporarily blinded me,but since that day,I’ve always been careful handling stick insects.

If Hammond would have just paid Nedry what he's worth then he wouldn't have gone out of his way to cross Ingen. A big part of what went wrong in the park happened because Nedry was the only one who knew how the system worked. The entire situation started because Hammond lied about the scope of the job, If I'm not mistaken nedry was promised an entire team. He shows up and is stuck there for months until the next boat arrives.

I mean that’s true but Hammond was more of a darker figure in the book and Nedry’s actions in the novel seem more acceptable than the movie’s portrayal due to that and Hammond just genuinely being a dick to him like the other commenter mentioned

What’s interesting is that they’re portrayed pretty small in the original JP movie but in real life I think they were more medium/larger sized, that’s terrifying to think about and only adds another element of horror to the novel version of Nedry’s death.

I’ve read Jurassic park 9 times and I absolutely love it and the dinosaurs are big and mean and very scary . I picture the novel as a horror show . Crichton is describing it as a horror novel with dinosaurs roaming the mainland and attacking dinosaurs and humans . Crichton was right

The Dilophosaurus is not too scary for Jurassic Park to me because the Jurassic franchise 'was' supposed to be a Sci-Fi adventure thriller after all; that is what I think of the original Michael Crichton novel , the Dilophosaurus jump scare is the perfect jump scare for the movies.
