I play Richter vs Samus at my local too quite often and I can tell why. Both the Samus and I are usually agreeing to play different characters but when we want to play seriously we play out the MU and it is very dreading. So at top 16 of such an event I wouldnt whip out my secondary (ish) for that MU

@@dorkasaurus_rex its definitely not at all good for terry. but if you're down 2 games and they seem close there's no reason to go through whether or not you should go a different character. its a hard decision and counter picking shouldn't be taken lightly, especially for riddles whos mostly a character specialist (playing pockets on stream doesn't mean they're official secondaries). Maybe riddles thought it was close and if he stuck it out there would be something there that he could figure out. It just happens that he didn't and that just happens sometimes.

A lot of comments complaining about Samus Up B. It has nothing to do with the character or Sisqui's playstyle. Riddles couldn't handle the option so Sisqui did the right thing and took the free % every time he could.

Getting repeatedly hit by Screw Attacks is such a good way to frustrate people. It’s not a flawless OOS because any well-spaced move will avoid it, but when you’re just pressing buttons on Samus’ shield over and over you should know what to expect.

Yup. Riddles started to adapt in the last game, but by then it was way too late.

@yatagarasuable it is not safe. Power dunk is +1 at best, which will not happen against Samus because her shield is really high. Terry needs 5 frames to put up shield when doing tiger knee.

because a zoner should never have a frame 4 OOS. It is not about Riddles playing the mu incorrectly, it is a hassle to get to Samus and then she just upb's and runs away again. That's why people complain. Don't think about the players you are watching, think about how a character works, and that's dumb however you want to look at it.

Most people don't enjoy the zoner archetype in ultimate as a viewer, and that won't change buddy, there's no use in asking people to start liking something they don't. As far as distasteful hate, I agree with you, the community should stop pinning it on the players for playing the game. But at the end of the day it's just a reality that at a viewer standpoint ultimate can be really incredible to watch, but also an absolute sleeper.

I feel like you turned his into something it’s not.. Who cares where someone is from? If the player is great or fun to watch, I could care less where they’re from. I also haven’t seen anyone making the comments about region of origin, maybe I just missed it, but where do you get your idea about it being about where the player is from?… Sisqui played a great match and capitalized on Riddles’ mistakes. I don’t understand people’s fascination/proclivity to turn things into some weird “ethnic/home of origin” conflict. It was a great match, I rooted for Riddles because Terry Bogard is my favorite video game character in any game, not just smash… I don’t play Samus, but love all the FGC characters (minus Kazuya, I never got into Tekken). It has nothing to do with where Riddles is from, I am not a Canadian… Maybe I’m just naive, but I feel like most people are a lot more like myself about these things than how you seem to see the world. I don’t get caught up in the BS politics or nationality of players outside of understanding where they get most of their offline experience. Fatality sees a way different game than Vendetta, Riddles, or MKleo… The list goes on and on. Their place of origin matters there because it helps you understand their style and meta. Outside of that objective reasoning, a player’s nationality doesn’t matter at all whether I rooted for someone. If Sisqui played Ken in this game, I’d be hard pressed and unsure who to cheer on, I’d just enjoy watching my two favorite Smash characters being played at a high level by guys who share an art form in the gaming circuit. The flags next to their names mean nothing to me in terms of the game. I hope you can start looking at things less through your “ethnic” lens and more through a character perspective… We all should, honestly… The world would have much less arguing between people who likely would get along just fine if the conversation hadn’t been derailed by some false misunderstanding that didn’t at all matter in the world. It’ll give you more hope too, realizing we all share a lot more in common than we often realize. Cheers!

I mean they do have a point though. Samus is one of the “lead balloon” picks. Very floaty for how heavy she is. A very good mobility to weight ratio. Also lots of movement and recovery options mid-air with morph bomb, screw attack, and grapple. She’s very hard to finish off.

Anyways, Samus' options on or off the stage don't mean anything in reference to dying at a lower percent in general as per my comment. I just thought it was peculiar they didn't mention how long he lived. 117 is an early death for most characters, let alone a "heavy". In contrast, 175 is well above a decent percent.
