The level of difficulty to actually hit a puff with a Belmont is extremely understated. Puff's aerial drift, frame data and power make it a really tough minigame just to get some damage. The matchup is 80/20 Jigglypuff. One hit offstage and the Belmont is dead. Dom is just a master of his craft.

The consensus that the Belmonts are slightly winning exists between a majority of top Puff and Belmont players, and is reflected on most major matchup lists you'll find.

Belmonts are among the easiest characters to gimp....Puff is a gimping machine. Bassmage himself always says that this MU is way more stressful for a Belmont player, and a Belmont needs to work significantly harder than he does to get absolutely anything

No puff doesn’t beat Mario at all. Mario can wall puff with back-air n-air OOS against her pressure plus neutral is surprisingly hard for puff if Mario plays grounded.

people have some ridiculous opinions of this matchup lol it’s probably slightly in puff’s favor purely from the offstage interactions where puff can decide the game but for everything else, puff has such a fine margin of error and a tough time getting in against a character with superior range and several projectiles that can kill/be combo’d into bassmage plays it so patiently but i think most puff’s would get smoked in this matchup honestly

Those last games are what we expect from a Richter/Jigglypuff set. (as a Belmont main) It's a horrible matchup for Belmonts. 80/20. Major props to Dom for lasting as long as he did. He makes Richter look viable!

@Raul Nedd Oh, it's pretty easy for Puff to get around the projectiles. She's got the fastest aerial drift in the game. Just approach from the air. The only hitbox Belmonts have that cover the drifting n-air are axe which is frame 30 and up tilt. Also there are plenty of horrible matchups in a game with 80+ characters. I guess it's just a matter of opinion.

definitely not anywhere near 80/20, the matchup is insanely volatile. puff can’t get in but once she does it’s a stock. belmont’s can zone and kill puff with any stray hit. puff has the small advantage purely from gimping but it’s still a painful matchup for her

This MU reminds me of Smash 4 Sheik vs ZSS Sheik bodies ZSS until she gets grabbed and killed at 10. Here Richter walls Puff until Puff gets one hit and push Richter offstage. Difference is Sheik - ZSS was +1 at least for sheik and Richter - Puff is probably +2 for Puff

Tu comentario no tienen mucho que ver con tu desprecio por belmonts :v En mi opinion Dom no podia hacer sus combos por que Jigs es muy rapida en el aire, flota demasiado con cada ataque y por su tamaño muchos de los set ups simplemente fallaban. Buen trabajo de Jigs por hacer las cosas dificil y el reverse 3-0 despues de que Dom hiciera taunt en el segundo juego xd

@@z-past1454 The aerials are frame 14, the f-tilt is frame 12 and they only last for one frame. Their specials start on - cross 19, axe 30, holy water bottle 18. Lag makes everything harder to react to, but I think it's just a timing thing with Belmonts. There are always going to be punishable moments against them. The work Dom has to put in is way more than if he were using a higher tier character.
