I remember leveling my operative 12 years ago and being so confused by the laughing I kept hearing. Your character laughs when you gain a TA it's audio cues are amazing and that laugh is a decent part of the joy I get playing this class. Some other classes do a laugh on a proc but I'm not sure what they are. I know my IO merc laughs occasionally and I have no idea why.

Great video man, little thing I like to do with this rotation / priority system, if you want to get every tick out of your dots before reapplying, it’s every 13 GCDs you have to go and reapply your dots to your target. So I like to get dots on, follow this priority system while counting in my head to 13 and starting over. Granted you’re fighting something that can survive through that much bonkery.

As a returning player - love that I found your channel been super helpful. One thing I've been looking for, any tips on improving FPS while in warzones? Interested in the PvP portion of this game but going from 144 solid in most situations to 20-50 in warzones is very painful. Makes it low key unplayable. I know the engine is old and the game is optimized poorly but it seems there are some folks who found some sort of balance. Any ideas? Much appreciated, keep up the great content!

install directx 9 get very fast cpu, up to 5 ghz mess around with shadows and nameplate settings - nameplate scaling in particular

Thanks dude! I’ve found that shadows are the primary culprit for in-game settings. Especially with 16 players moving around, the game really chugs trying to render them.

I know this probably isn't ideal for DPS output but hear me out, I've noticed there is a static rotation you can run based on the cooldowns. I'm mainly a healer and DPS is a secondary thing I run with the guild to learn more about combat mechanics. But it should be an easy rotation to maintain during a fight while I'm trying to maintain situational awareness and avoid bad stuff. Corrosive grenade, corrosive dart, toxic blast, lethal strike, toxic haze, shiv, corrosive assault x3, shiv, corrosive assault, and then restart. So far this has already increased my parse on a dummy. I know that cutting your DOT's short isn't ideal but this rotation makes it so they should never fall off, which is far worse for your DPS than cutting DOT's a bit short (especially because most of the DPS from lethality is from maximizing the damage from DOT's). This is by no means a min-max rotation, but it seems like a good idea if you're just learning to get better and/or DPS isn't your main role. Make of this whatever you will, I'm also open to suggestions and may likely modify this in the future as I become more comfortable with this class.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to do what works best for you. The perfect rotation doesn't mean crap if you don't understand it well enough to maintain it during a boss fight, even the best rotations/classes will underperform in this scenario. Figure out what works best for you and then improve from there incrementally.

If you're gonna go that route (which does work pretty decently), try this: First, instead of Corrosive Return, take Penetrating Strategies at level 23. Corrosive Dart > Corrosive Grenade > Shiv > Toxic Blast > Lethal Strike > Corrosive Assault x3 > Shiv > Corrosive Assault. Repeat. You might sometimes only get 2 Corrosive Assaults before having to hit Shiv, but you'll still get 2 more CA's right after, so you'll always get 4 CA's in each cycle. On dummy tests, I find this to do higher dps than your method.

@@killermouse01 If you're not getting the same results, I'd be curious as to how exactly you're testing. I'm full 343 IR, 3661 Crit, 2258 Alacrity, 2704 Accuracy. Using Armor Reduction Module and the 10 Mil Health Modulator on the dummy. I've tried both our methods multiple times over & over, and the method I gave still consistently beats yours. The lowest dps I got with my method was higher than the highest dps I could get with yours. Although, it does appear slightly better to use Corrosive Grenade first and then Corrosive Dart.

Welp, I finally have my Lethality OPerative at level 80. I went ahead and bought Synox shots. I have been taking time off from the game this week because I kinda can't stand it. lol I was pretty mad earlier this week and then thought I should dedicate some time to learn GSF, but then got into trying to get her to 80 considering event XP and it worked. Am I wrong to question if high damage openers are counter-productive for the sake of threat generation? My thinking is, if I do so much damage too early and end up pulling threat off the tank, it just makes life more difficult in those first few seconds of a boss fight. On the other hand, if adrenals and such are used a bit later in the fight, I'm far less likely to pull threat by accident (especially since we're using a DOT build). Am I at least partially correct that high damage openers could complicate those first few seconds and start the fight of too messy?

I also understand that tanks can use their taunts, but it's better if they reserve those taunts for later in the fight when they have a much bigger and more reliable effect beyond 6 seconds. So for the sake of the raid, it's better to keep the fight clean and less complicated in those first few seconds.

If you're pulling threat off the tank, the solution isn't to do less damage, the solution is to yell at your tank to be better. In all seriousness though, the taunt cooldown isn't that long (15 seconds for single target), if you pull off they should just taunt back and you should be fine. If you're having that much trouble pulling threat, just give the tank a second or two at the start and then go ballistic. You can also integrate our stealth our Cloaking Screen to drop threat (and generate more tactical advantages) as a way to dump threat. You can also have one of the tanks guard you to reduce your threat by 25% if you're the big pumper in the raid. Threat really shouldn't be much of a problem. If it is, you don't have a DPS problem, you have a tank problem!

I have a question regarding the first ability choice: I have been using the additional crit chance and armor penetration perk for the whole time now because in a Flashpoint another operative player told me that both effects apply to the DoTs that corrosive assault procs as well. Is this really true? I assumed this person knew what they were talking about due to having a full set of the best raid gear. But seeing you use the other perk - which I initially thought would be better - makes me wonder if I got wrong information. Because if that buff only applies to the attack of corrosive assault itself and not the DoTs then it's obvious that this choice is much worse compared to the TA refund.

Yeah the buffs only apply to corrosive assault, not the dot ticks associated with it.

Played Lethality for a while on SM and HM some months ago and so far what you have said is correct or at least what I have been taught by others but there is one issue I see here. Corrosive Grenade should be used after Corrosive Dart to max out the DPS, especially if you want to spread the DoT's.

Most of these rotations/recommendations come from studying the top parses on parsely, for example, the top parse here: parsely.io/parser/view/649524/0 I believe they're applying corrosive grenade first to get the assailable debuff on the target as quickly as possible, increasing all dot damage by 7%. Side note: Corrosive grenade doesn't spread dart in lethality, only toxic haze does.

Is the 5% damage implant really that useful? Trapper package makes Toxic haze spend no TA and no energy. Second Wind heals for a mega 20% HP with each enemy killed. I can see second wind being a godlike power for trash mobs in Ops, FPs, and heroics/dailies.

Second wind is fine for dailies if you like the convenience of it, but the spec offers so much healing on its own that it's rare to need it. In terms of group content, frankly healing is someone else's problem, not ours. If you need it in your group content, berate your healers. If they complain about you berating them, feel free to link them to this comment and I will call them dogshit to their face. Energy really isn't a problem and it's rare to run into trouble on TAs, so while trapper may be fun to play with, it just can't keep up. If you like the convenience that's fine, and I know that it's boring, but it's hard to compete with a flat damage buff on every single ability we have.

Let's be real, won't no TA spent on Toxic Haze actually be more beneficial for DPS when you can use that +1 TA on Corrosive Assault vs +5% overall damage? 5% is so small, that if you do 20k DPS, 5% is only +1,000 more, making 21k DPS.

backstab is replaced by lethal strike and you can hit from anywhere, but i believe that using the crit bonus that it gives you after you apply every dot can be more effective rather than opening with the bonus damage and then applying the dots. unsure about it tho.

Just looking at your damage numbers your screen shows 51k, but i have the same gear and im at 26,800 only alacrity in my gear is from the implants same as yours but i cant get lower than 9.15%.

The “damage” number on that page is complete hogwash that seems to change at random. I can send the same gear to different toons and get different numbers. I wouldn’t worry about it. For alacrity, you probably have an extra alacrity piece in (that’s usually my issue) so u fortunately you’re going to have to hunt for a replacement crit piece. You can probably fish for a 326 crit piece through PvP.
