So something I've used to help with Heat management on Bodyguard is to use a Kolto Shot after every Rapid Scan. That usually helps keep me heat neutral when building Supercharge

Better late than never i guess :D I picked up bodyguard 3 weeks ago or so and have been grinding my gear since then. Since I didnt really find any good guides out there I was kinda winging it and asking questions on the fleet. This guide didnt really teach me anything but you made some points about heat manegement i will try to implement since thats probably my biggest problem now. And also maybe what heals to prioritize. Good stuff!

Thanks as always for the great guide. The very small time I have spent in this game healing was on BG, so I had some familiarity with a lot of the concepts, but it was great to see it in perspective and learn some new tricks! Looking forward to the Operative Healing guide now, as I keep hearing about its legendary power, but it feels a little bit intimidating.

Rapid shots and kolto shots aren’t just fillers, they actively vent heat. I think it’s -2 or 3 per use. So they cost zero during that global and reduce three for a net -4 to 5 heat per GCD, and you aren’t doing nothing. Never do nothing. Always be actively healing, cleansing, or reducing heat.
@TraceguyRune Жыл бұрын
But isn't a filler something you use to either pass the CD time or to prevent energy depletion??

Dyes usually come from the cartel market, or if you go to the gtn on fleet and type in "red" or "green" or [insert any color] dye packs are usually for sale for credits.

Efficient shells is something I avoid picking as a long time PvE merc healer. The reason for me is that more often than not, the timer runs out before the number of shells for most of the group. Only for the tanks is this something to keep in mind, but since I am constantly looking at them anyway, it is relatively easy to keep track of for tanks. Aside from that, it doesn't actually increase healing done to the group if you are on point. It might let me save some heat in long fights, but that's about it. And really long fights either have mechanics that are the downfall of the group, or there are breathers to reapply. For fights with lots of damage to whole group, it can be decent since the shells tick of quickly, but these are not the typical fights. I mostly use one of the other two depending on the ops. Since they both do more to help the group they are eventually worth more in terms of healing from my experience. Either more AoE healing from splashing shells just helping out everyone that little extra over the duration. Assuming all 7 are used on all members but only hitting 1 person instead of two, that's 56000 free group healing. Double if it hits two people each time. Only use in ops though, not enough group damage or enough people or long enough fights in FP. Or we get some damage prevention from shell shield, which is very nice to avoid small damage chipping people down and having to spam missile more than you'd like. This damage prevention seems small, and can only proc once every 4.5 seconds, so I mainly use it in FP. Depends on the fight, but efficient shells I don't use. It simply adds nothing of value. Particularly if you get used to always keeping track of the shell and adding them back when they hit 2 or 3 stacks left on your group members. If the fight is longer than 3 minutes, you need to reapply kolto shells anyway. And if the shells are removed from people too quickly, then either tank isn't good at aggro, people are standing in things they shouldn't, or you are better off with splashing shells for the extra healing. Supercharged celerity I never use unless it is specifically needed for a burn period on the boss. Simply because the extra charge from Power overrides gives an extra instant healing scan which is so much extra burst healing that as a Merc I desperately need for those intense situations. And it also lets us use it more often. 15 seconds is 25% reduced cooldown. Over the course of a normal fight of 3 minutes that's 4 uses instead of 3. 4 times you can instantly cast healing scan twice with supercharged gas vs 3 times you can cast it instantly once. That is 5 extra healing scans in 3 minutes. Yes the extra heat is intense to deal with, but the numbers really make it hard not to pick. So unless we need that big extra burn damage from better alacrity, I would always pick Power over rides. Chaff flare in PvE only for fights with massive damage you know is going to hit that is either force or tech, since it will completely block that. There are other options aside from integrated scanning and they are worth considering. 3% extra healing is really good and if there is no need to use healing scan/no need for big burst healing then this is definitely the best one, but it needs upkeep and if there is no need for using healing scan, then using it just to get the 3% buff is counter intuitive. I use this as a standard and the other two for specific situations. Residual globules is essentially a 15 - 20 % boost in healing from healing scan, just not to main target. I love using this when we have big hits going out among the group, since I will be using healing scan on many members of the group and this is simply good additional healing that comes up very often with supercharge usage. Prog groups get a lot of mileage out of this one. Critical scanning is the best if all you are going to do is heal a single target all fight long. Or mostly 1 target at least. The fights that demand the most of your tank really really benefit from the 5% crit chance. 5% is immensely beneficial since healing scan is the primary power of healing for single target. I use this for specific fights where the tank is getting hammed and no one else needs more than a kolto shell to keep healthy. Stealth scan grants a 20% healing buff. This is a 15 second cooldown no heat healing buff you can set up as needed. This improves healing quite a bit if used before a healing scan as a filler instead of something that doesn't boost it. Emergency + stealth + healing scan is a lot of healing for very little heat. Stealth scan has slightly shorter cooldown than emergency scan, so this is a consistent rotation that can be used. There are plenty of other small rotation bits that fit well together and are dependent on state of heat and tanks and hp of group. Area healing go with Kolto missile, kolto shot, progressive, kolto missile, rapid scan, kolto shot/emergency, healing scan, kolto missile, repeat. There is the big burst healing, which is all about setting up with rapid scans 3 times. Then healing scan, emergency scan, supercharge, healing scan, power surge, healing scan, healing scan, healing scan, healing scan. This is 1 normal heating scan followed by 3 instant healing scans, and 2 normal ones. In about 12 seconds we do 6 healing scans and 1 emergency scan. Without crits that's around 200k healing on a single target with what you have here. with crits we reach much much higher. And if we start from zero heat we end up around 30 heat. And we should be around 0 after supercharge anyway, so this is a safe rotation to get used to using. There are many times were it is more beneficial to leave a member at 50% and focus on kolto shells for other members due to heat, and then circle back to them when vent heat or supercharge is available so you can handle the burst heal without messing yourself up. These smaller rotations and tips really help new healers so much in being consistent and not wasting heat every fight spamming rapid scan. I almost only use rapid scan for building critical efficiency in preparation of healing scan. I think going over the ability tree more will help many new players as well. kolto shot vents heat. kolto missile crits like crazy. Progressive grants armor buff to targets affected (Keep picking new targets and it will protect everyone quite soon). Many of these help inform the choice of which ability to use when. I also highly recommend Advanced scanning as legendary. The extra crit on emergency scan is wonderful, sure, but the 3 second cooldown reduction on it is so much better for consistent healing since it costs no heat and lets us instantly cast Healing scan. Being able to do this more often is more valuable than a crit on emergency. Specially since we will use emergency more often than supercharged. roughly twice for each supercharge we use. The cooldown reduction on healing scan is nice, but not a big factor here. Its almost always available if we rotate correctly on supercharged gas unless we do big burst as above. This got a lot longer than I thought it would...

@@SomeName01 effective healing is how many hit points you’re actually restoring. So if your target is at 90/100 HP and you heal them for 50, you’re only going to bump them up 10 HP. So your HPS would be 50, but your EHPS would be 10.
