I am just starting on the bodhrán, with only one "KZbin" week of experience under my belt. I love this "Swung Funk" rhythm but, as yet, don't understand the notation. Do you ever write out your rhythms? "Down,down,pop" etc. would be of immense help until I can get the groove into my brain. This would also be a tremendous help whenever practicing away from a device when I'm unable to watch or listen to you. Thank you, BTW, for such prompt delivery of my beautiful Hedwitschak Coreline. It is a pleasure to play.

If you’re looking to practice away from the videos (which is a great idea :)) you could get my e-book here: rebelliondrums.com/collections/e-books I have a video which explains my notation, which you can see here: contemporarybodhran.com/programs/free-stuff For more complex rhythms like swung funk, I don’t write them out in symbols (D, U, I etc.) because it just leaves out too much information. I’d suggest checking out the videos on contemporarybodhran.com as well, and also feel free to let me know if you’re ever interested in 1-on-1 internet lessons.

Contemporary Bodhrán, (Matthew) thanks so much for your reply. I'm putting in the time, but as a former tap dancer who could do these rhythms with my feet, progress seems slow on the more complex combinations! I did find your polka video where you used the D,U,I - D,U,I - D,U and I got it right away. Success breeds success, so I'm hanging in there. Thank you for your suggestions and I will use them as I continue my quest to absorb all the knowledge and expertise of others!
