Aged 13 I walked into my favourite record shop in the small French town where I grew up, purchased DSOTM on the advice of the kindly manager and a life-long love affair with the Floyd began. Little did I know that many years later I'd come to live and work in the city which gave birth to three of Floyd's geniuses, Syd, Roger and David. Now I cycle through Grantchester Meadows, on the Causeway, down the Long Road and past St Margaret's Square (where Syd spent most of his life) feeling nothing but gratefulness for this place and these guys who have enriched my life so fully. Having said that, the Floyd would be nothing without Rick (RIP) and Nick who added their special genius to give birth to the creative alchemy which was the source of unique music from a unique band. It is telling that once the band had found their own voice, almost everything they did contained some kind of homage to Syd.

l remember the market in the Centre of Cambridge in the 80s !! Never ever bought anything from it but used to spend five minutes taking a short cut across it from one side of the square to the other !

It was his family's decision to make - they received them through Barrett's will. Why do you feel as though you have more of a right to decide how they need to be disposed of than his family?
