I think these two quotes by Syd sum him up (and what happened to him): “That's all I wanted to do as a kid. Play a guitar properly and jump around. But too many people got in the way.” “I do not think I’m easy to define. I have a wandering mind. And I’m not anything that you think I am.”
@kuszynier Жыл бұрын
The second quote is wrong. It went like this: "I don't think I'm easy to talk about. I've got a very irregular head. And I'm not anything that you think I am anyway."

very gratifying to know over the years, that the guy did have a life after his music, and it wasnt completely tragic in a rock star cliche story. shine on mate

He had problems communicating with people, but I think that his mind was still shining. I understand the meanings of the lyrics in his solo albums.

I must say, a good vid indeed. I didn't expect it to be good but it was. Such an old recording too. Amazes me. Fascinates me. It doesn't look like old youtube but it's clearly old. And since the guy states that he didn't know Syd died 2 years ago and the current date of the video was possibly 2008, then the software used to screen record was very old tech. I wonder if justin tv was around 2006? I remember that being a great place to find cool shows to watch and interesting new characters doing things. I remember one time I was watching a video group chat of women making their cosplays and you could talk to them. I was too afraid to be on cam, then again, I don't think I had a proper webcam back then. Then again this interaction was way after 2006, though. Anyways, it was nice to hear those guys talk about Syd. Surely, Syd lost his mind and wandered around town. But he could talk if you really tried, I think. Cause he clearly continued to make good music after he was dropped by Pink Floyd.

Oh man, I liked watching this. I still can't look at the picture of when he went to see the guys play at Abbey Road, it´s just hard to believe. That picture taken with the 5 pink floyd it´s meaningful cause it represents what was destined to happen later on, you know, Gilmour as the new member and Syd just left behind.

I was always skeptical about this "crazy diamond" label the PF invented. Roger was no crazy diamond (his name wasn't even Syd). He was a great poet and artist. It seems to me that the "crazy diamond" label fits more to Waters, Gilmour and Mason. Running away from the showbiz circus is not madness, it's good sense.

@Dr.Hogfan George was being playful when He said that. He wasn't against it at all, He'd just reached a point within Himself where He didn't need it anymore. All Drugs are not created equal. Don't take anyone else word, Open your mind and find out for Yourself. :)
@Garlicbreadbat13 жыл бұрын
Mhmm. Because I completely have the power to do that, one post on KZbin is enough to "convince" a kid to "do a bunch of acid". Sure, whatever you say. If you seriously think that all of Syd's problems were caused by LSD use, then wow. How obtuse. It sounds like you've seriously got something personal against all this, and that's on you. It's the person, not the drug. And that's the end of my participation in this argument, thank you. =)

He was gorgeous! He was very talented.So sad his brain was cooked. Those that like drugs should learn from this. So many people fry theirs-and their unborn fetus' great brain and most often cause schizophrenia.

What? You wish Pink Floyd hadn't continued without him? That's very pathetic thinking. He laid them a foundation!! THEY all KNEW there'd be no Floyd without what he'd done before!! You think they should have stabbed to death all artistic thoughts/ ideas that they came up with from his influence?? Wow, dude. You're effed up. Art in a gallery is to study and admire.
@DrHogfan13 жыл бұрын
@TheHelenasan4 Look dude, you can't say that taking LSD will make one a better person,will make one's life any better or anything close to it. I know of what I speak. "Open your mind" ? Give me a break.
@kickyerass12 жыл бұрын
No. He blew his mind our with acid. It didn't work 'right' anymore. There's a video here of an "interview"- (his last one perhaps?) where he couldn't formulate cogent thoughts. His mates said the same. Why don't you people give them, the ones who knew him best, the credence they deserve????? And because his mind didn't connect the dots anymore, he was stuck- in those old songs; there was nothing to develop WITH. It wasn't about what he WANTED!!
