If Syndey Sweeney really is going to be Black Cat, that means that she's completely lost faith in Madame Webb and Sony's "original plan" for those characters in the Sony universe. Since it's very likely that Sony lied to the actresses about Madame Webb being in the MCU in the first place, I'm guessing she had a real sit-down conversation about the logistics of an MCU contract. I will say I'd probably be more ecstatic about these rumors had Madame Webb never happened. I think having Black Cat be in MCU Spider-Man 4 could work even if Felica Hardy is a student at MIT, but even if she's just going to be a criminal it can still work.

I dig this discussion. I think something that hasn’t popped up in a lot of post-No Way Home discussions is how integral to the character of Spider-Man and Peter Parker it is that he have to balance the power and responsibility of being a hero and keeping his loved ones safe. Like Back in Black is my favorite arc and it hinges on that premise. So the spell HAS to be undone for sake of the character, but in the meantime, seeing him break bad can be hugely fun. Let’s get a darker street level Spidey, have his tryst with Black Cat, lead that into Secret Wars and him getting the symbiote… and then when universes start colliding for the MCU reset, give me Zendaya’s MJ touching the black dahlia necklace with a solemn and knowing look to set up him returning to being the ultimate good guy, and marrying MJ.

"No Way Home" always made me wonder what happened to Peter Parker's records. If there is no memory (or record) of his existence, with no Social Security Number, bank accounts, etc., how is he not just living under a bridge? With no ID, he wouldn't be able to enroll in Empire State University or any university. It seems like a plothole, but I need to watch "No Way Home" again. Am I missing something?

When I think on Spider-Man and Black Cat, my favorite version of the story was in the Spider-Man 2 game. She showed up ( tauntingly) just when he needed a friend, someone who understood but could lighten him up to enjoy being who he is. To help him reset and find his direction. I'm really looking forward to this potentially making it into film. I adore Sam Raimi and I think he's grown enough as a director to helm this project.

Spider-man breaking a little bad with Black Cat (potentially with Kingpin being the mayor of New York) would be an excellent way to get him crossing paths with Daredevil. Matt Murdock wouldn't know who Peter Parker is anymore or that he helped represent him, and he could cross batons with Spidey and BC doing a little bit of crime, especially if that crime is connected to Fisk (knowingly or not).

I love the idea of Black Cat being a major player in this. Everyone makes a great point about Peter being the minor character and Spider-man becoming the focus, but it works even more so when you think about how Peter has lost everyone he knows and loves and has a vacuum to fill. College is formative, and he has this background, making it amplified. This could be a fun way to introduce a good character, another temporary love interest, and build from where they've been to where they will go in establishing who Peter Parker is before going back to MJ and being established as an adult figure in the MCU

Since No Way Home released I've been hoping that we get Black Cat and Daredevil in the next MCU Spider-Man movie, but I have to admit, now that I really try to think of how they would fit both of those characters plus Kingpin and maybe even a bigger, more threatening villain, into one movie I'm struggling to come up with anything that sounds promising and not overly long and narratively messy.

Don't forget Daredevil is also expected to show up in the movie, even to play a major role in it. This is one of the characters with more experience in handling a double life and dealing with morality questions. I think that, if this is the case, this movie is going to be amazing, deeply mature, and highly important in the development of Spiderman's character.
