Nice video. The Waratahs are a good train, can't complain at all. This footage will be even more significant in about 40 years time when there is discussions on which B set to preserve following retirement and you will be talking about how you rode the first set :D I guess that also means we'll be seeing the very end of the S sets soon, hopefully they set aside a decent few cars so they won't be completely wiped from existence.

Hi there. Just be careful when commenting about B-sets replacing S-sets - the B-sets actually don't replace anything, rather, they are Sydney Growth Trains. Yes, the S-sets will be gradually retired, however they will be stored for later use when required, keeping in mind there is a new timetable coming September 30th 2018 to coincide with Metro Service integrations (the first step of many changes). Yes, there is a high chance there will be media coverage of one or two S-sets being scrapped, this is simply to keep the public happy - we will still have S-sets on the network til 2022

Wow! looks great the new trains, but I still think the interior could change a little bit so people can distinguish the A sets from the B sets, such as new fabric on the seating, and maybe some different lights, but other than that, looks great the new trains, can't wait to find them on the North Shore line when they all arrive.

Why would they need to change the interior? The general public doesn't care about the difference between A and B. All they are about is that its clean, safe, comfortable and gets them from A to B on time.

Stephen Keosseian As far as I know, the B sets are currently only serving on Sector 2, which is the T2, T3 and T8 lines. T1 is Sector 3, so you’ll only have Tangaras (T sets) and the original Waratahs (A sets) as those are the only sets currently operating Sector 3.

Now, we need to think about replacing the K, C, and T Sets. Because they are 38, 31, and 30 years old. We can keep making the Waratahs for the K, and C sets. And a new train for the T sets. What do you think? And what would you like to be in the new trains?

AheadMatthewawsome T sets aren’t going anytime soon since they have recently been getting a lot of aesthetic and functional upgrades, like the recent fitting of new Millennium M set styled doors with some more planned in the near future such as digital display boards and CCTV cameras being installed to bring them more up to date with Millenniums and both Waratah sets. On top of that, the T sets are the only ones currently capable of running on the T4 line as that line currently can’t handle M sets or Waratahs.

Seems like all of the Waratah A sets was saying welcome to Waratah B2 being a part of Sydney trains. When all of the Waratah B sets enter service all you will see is Waratahs, Waratahs and more dam Waratahs. Then by 2050 on every Single Sydney trains and NSW train link lines all you will see is WARATAH MANIA and by the way great vlog Phil 😎😎😎

I’ve noticed when I travel on sector 2 lines that on weekends the only trains you will catch are Waratahs whereas on weekdays you could get a millennium train Waratah or k and c set. Weekends don’t have millennium or k and c sets. Why is that?

Because generally using newer rollingstock as less trains on a weekend than weekday for customer satisfaction. I remember back in 2006 with no trackwork on sector 2 that 95% Millennium trains operated the Airport and East Hills/South line while 50% on the Liverpool via Bankstown and Inner West lines had nearly 50% but the rest were S, C and T sets.

Not really The airport stations have an announcement telling people which side of the train to alight from which is good as luggage can be a pain to position near the doors to leave the train. It doesn’t bother me as it doesn’t seem to be needed at this stage for most stations

NKP It’s not that big of a deal, since you may likely already see which side it’s going on. The only time they do an announcement like that is Domestic and International Airport stations, which mention the left side always opens in the direction of travel.

This is a great improvement however in my opinion there are so many missed opportunities E.g. the screens showing how busy each carriage is or which side to unload. I also think that the LCD dot matrix replacement screens look so boring! The yellow and black just had to be picked out of every colour. Heck, even white and black are better. Ah well, overall they are better than the Waratahs imo
