Thoroughly enjoyed this on the top front, takes me back to the good old days of the green and yellow double deckers. Love to see more of these from all over Sydney

I spent all day Sunday (26/11/17) riding them, filming them and photographing them! They're local for me which is what's great! Announcements sound similar to that of the Waratahs in my opinion. I got 2870, 2864, 2883 and 2873.

*Sydney Buses CB60* and the PIDs(?) look like a little like those used at train stations.

Nice video Phil. FYI the route is actually part of the old L90 route, except it starts at Mona Vale (instead of Palm Beach 15km north), has an extra stop at Manly Vale, and doesn't stop as frequently between Mona Vale and Narrabeen (the L90 is all-stops in that section). Otherwise the service and route is identical to the old L90's, which has been running for decades. I've lived in the Northern Beaches for over 20 years and rode the L90 almost every day for half of that time, but moved away before the B's finished. Definitely feeling a lot of nostalgia watching this video, and the view is sweet from the top floor! A problem with the B's (and any road vehicle based service) is that the part between Spit Bridge and the City (i.e. Military Road) generally always has high volume traffic, which is why some people in the Northern Beaches has been asking for a metro for years. That is, the B-line to some is just a bandaid solution, which I agree with somewhat. However the B's will really shine once a swathe of road flow improvements on that part of the route is completed by the State Government. Currently Military Road is a shocker--there was an article in the paper awhile ago declaring it is within the top 5 worst traffic roads in Sydney, sitting amongst the likes of Parramatta Road and the M5. The main reason I moved away from the Northern Beaches was because of the peak traffic. Leaving my place at 5:30am got me to the City (where I work) in a breezy 40 minutes by car. At 7:30am? It once took me 3 hours. Wowsers! Cheers

Thanks for that vid, you brought me great memories when Dad in our 'new' Holden EJ (actually it was new to us as kids compared to the old FE) driving a long that same route to give the car a bit of workout...mind you the road might be similar, but the buildings along the way were not...hehe...ta again. We were living in the western suburbs then. Now am in SA...been here since '72.

Brian Morris do you miss Sydney? I’ve been away since 1975. Would love to move back from California. I lived in Adelaide for one year in 1966 while at the University. Liked Adelaide too.

Love the Video! Great to film something like this that is new! And that it is reasonably widely publicized in the transport community! I will be going on the B-Line Wynyard to Mona Vale & return on 27 December! Can't wait! I'll be trying to sit at the front on the top deck!

Nobody respects the bus lane!. In Montevideo, Uruguay the municipality has cars with radars on the roof the picks up the plates of the cars that are parked illegally. It works. I wish we had double deckers though they are awesome! Great video! PS:I would love a video where you look up front but few seat lines behind. I like to watch the interior of the bus too.

The B-Line buses are overall really nice services for time. Limited stops and usb sockets in the middle underneath so if you need to charge your phone you can do so. Also 35-40 minutes seems accurate.

Great vid as always Phil, I grew up in Sydney and it never ceases to amaze me how short sighted their government is, they did away with double decker buses in the early 70" and are now bringing them back, did away with single deck trains in the 80's and now bringing them back, did away with trams in the late 60's and now bringing them back ......

As the news reporter said, they sold off the aging double-deckers and waited for the latest, new models rather than commit to buying anything prematurely. A wise policy.

Should have been a Tram line. I hate the fact that the government is building the light rail so slowly by putting it in "stages" so they can justify the cost to the public. Build a rail line to the north east just like the old trams!

Plus the incessant "whistle" of the a/c whilst travelling, an audible reminder of good $$ invested into "moving forward" cutting edge technology! "Whistle" while you ride?? And the monotone droning "conversation" - gratis!! No bright sunny views,, no night shots??? Wow, this was a well planned filming extravaganza, yes??
