I just got engaged a week and a half ago and my biggest shock so far has been how expensive even the most SIMPLE save the dates are. Over $200 for 100 pieces of cardstock - not counting postage. Quickly reconsidered how to go about notifying people about the date we're going with!

I love that you said not to let trends get in the way of planning your day the way that you want! I’m getting married in November and seeing different trends come up every few months makes it so stressful. It’s important to realize trends come and go and what matters most is creating a day that you & your husband will cherish forever!

Hey, I really appreciate this video. I watched every minute of it and it is very informative! Also thank you for saying it’s okay to elope or have a small wedding. Sometimes I think i’ll get judged by my family or friends. I wish you a happy and beautiful wedding 💗

Great video!! Love hearing your thought process. If you have any groomsmen who are relatives of one of you, they could escort a mom or grandma down the aisle if that makes sense instead of doubling up with one bridesmaid. Either way it’s totally normal to have different numbers. Excited to keep watching!

You got it right! Make your wedding yours 👏my husband and I have been married for 17 years and have 2 little girls. We got married with our family of 20 people on the Robert Frost trail in VT. We hiked to the tree we got married at then had the reception at my mother’s in law’s backyard outside. A couple days later we flew home to Chicago and had a small reception with our friends at our favorite restaurant. I adore you both and am your biggest fan. ✌️❤️🙏

Love this! I'm married but so many great tips for brides to be, especially the email. I wish I thought of that lol. My wedding was actually kind of a train wreck, we tailored everything around the opinions of others in hopes of making everyone else happy (when we were footing the bill entirely) and I look back with so much regret. The ones who were the loudest about what was supposed to be "our" day were no shows. Not to mention people were invited without our approval by other family members, so on the day there were about 50-60 additional guests that we hadnt even met before. This was supposed to be a very small wedding; me and my husband have social anixety and crowds make it 1000 times worse so at this point it was a miracle both of us made it through the ceremony. Safe to say we ended up not having a good time at all because everything was so not us. We barely made it through dinner, and skipped the reception completely. No first dance.💔 The bride and groom were the first ones to leave the wedding. I write all this to say to anyone getting married please don't be a people pleaser on your day. Stand firm on your wants, and make sure no one is secretly inviting other people even if you think that's a given lol!! Me and my husband are still happily married 6 years later but the date of the wedding holds a sore spot for us so my husband decided on the anniversary of when we first started dating that we would get all dressed up, he put a crazy amount of lights on our back deck, played what would have been our first dance song and we had our first dance. ❤ this will be date we celebrate. ❤

I’m getting married this year too. I told my fiancé I don’t want a wedding because I don’t like attention but after we I got engaged the end of November i was so excited to plan a wedding and do all the things. I even proposed to all my bridesmaids, bought and diy’d a few things then last week my fiancé and I had a talk and I told him I can’t do this. It was too stressful financially and mentally so we decided to cancel the wedding and just elope instead. A weight has been lifted off of me and I’m excited to just go with my gut and elope. I love seeing what everyone else is doing for their wedding and the planning process.

I got married last june & im a full time wedding photographer and wedding planning still took me for a whirl! We did a day after party like you mentioned and it was one of my FAVORITE parts of the whole weekend! And open mic toasts at the rehearsal was a favorite!!! One thing I wish we did was either do no toasts on the wedding day / only my dads toast / at least wish we gave people a time limit because our toasts cut sooo far into our dancing! If there is one thing I wish we spent less on it was flowers! They were pretty but I so wouldve rather spent that somewhere else! A lot of plated dinners let people choose their meal before & state allergies which is sooo helpful so hopefully yours is that way! 🫶🏼 To save money on food we did bfast for dinner like biscuits eggs etc and my husband and I literally had my mom pack us dinner because we both don't eat gluten or dairy! And looking back I feel so bad that other people might've been in that position!!! Literally just soak it all in, I tell my husband at least once a week how much I wish we could have another wedding lol! It is just the most special feeling to feel so loved and celebrated by the people you love most ❤❤❤
