My dog has bellowed to this song with every harmonica crescendo since she first heard it as a puppy. As she lays in my arms now withering away from kidney disease, I can still feel her body trembling wanting to get the howl out one last time, but she hasn’t the energy anymore. It’s just the most beautiful sad thing I have ever experienced in my life and it kills me.

*Posting the lyrics so I can read along* Don't you cherish me to sleep Never keep your eyelids clipped Hold me for the pops and clicks I was only for the father's crib Hair, old, long along Your neck onto your shoulder blades Always keep that message taped Cross your breasts you won't erase I was only for your very space Hip, under nothing Propped up by your other one, face 'way from the sun Just have to keep a dialogue Teach our bodies: haunt the cause I was only trying to spell a loss Joy, it's all founded Pincher with the skin inside You pinned me with your black sphere eyes You know that all the rope's untied I was only for to die beside So it"s storming on the lake Little waves our bodies break There's a fire going out But there's really nothing to the south Swollen orange and light let through Your one piece swimmer stuck to you Sold, I'm Ever Open ears and open eyes Wake up to your starboard bride Who goes in and then stays inside Oh the demons come, they can subside

The reaction from the crowd, when Justin says 'Calgary', gives me shivers every time. They're aware of the special moment they're about to enjoy and, even after 1000 listens, I still can't shake the feeling that this guy is an absolute genius storyteller of a songwriter. As I sit in awe at what I just witnessed, I ponder how something like this can make me feel things on a level that isn't so easily comprehendible. Non-tangible and not of this realm. The only justification I have is that music like this is an extension of the soul... and thats why we feel things we don't understand... because this is Justin's soul reaching out and placing a hand on our shoulder, giving us a glimpse from a perspective unfamiliar. There are forces we don't understand out there, and potentially some we never will. This magic that happens is a force that extends beyond human comprehension.

Don't you cherish me to sleep Never keep your eyelids clipped Hold me for the pops and clicks I was only for the father's crib Hair, old, long along Your neck onto your shoulder blades Always keep that message taped Cross your breasts you won't erase I was only for your very space Hip, under nothing Propped up by your other one, face 'way from the sun Just have to keep a dialogue Teach our bodies: haunt the cause I was only trying to spell a loss Joy, it's all founded Pincher with the skin inside You pinned me with your black sphere eyes You know that all the rope's untied I was only for to die beside So it’s storming on the lake Little waves our bodies break There's a fire going out But there's really nothing to the south Swollen orange and light let through Your one piece swimmer stuck to you Sold, I'm ever Open ears and open eyes Wake up to your starboard bride Who goes in and then stays inside Oh the demons come, they can subside

A lot of new music to me feels hard, melodramatic, and like sitting on plastic. This feels soft , heartfelt, and like a blanket with many different textures. I hope to keep finding gems like Calgary.
