@Zemogcram a frame is the general time unit used in fighting games. It's 1/60th second. Most fighting games run showing 60 updates on the screen (frames) every second, hence the name. Frame traps are certain type of advanced mind games. Each frame trap is very character and situation specific. Frame traps can make the opponent believe he can react to a situation in time, and if he tries to do that instead of being passive, he gets punished.

@ShotoShogun187 Agreed. American players have been focusing too much on Daigo, that they've been studying on how to beat Yun instead of upgrading their own game. Latif himself has showed the results of his progress, which is very motivating and inspirational, showing the importance of competition and his commitment to winning Evo.

Totally deserved seems like Latif worked very hard for this so congrats to him great match

Latif was able to keep Daigo's yun from closing by playing mind games with seismic hammers and cancels mixed with well spaced thunder knuckles. What a good match .

@YukoAsho Interesting, so literally nowadays there has been not a single person who has won consecutively? Can you elaborate (if there's more to elaborate of course)? I'm actually curious, no sarcasm or anything.

@XXEvilRikuXX FADC= Focus Attack Dash Cancel. Like if I shoryuken I will focus and then dash either foreward or backwards to cancel the rest of the focus meaning I only used focus attack to get me out of following through with the entire shoryuken after i hit him and then I canceled the focus attack by dashing to maybe follow up with another attack. Does that help?

I agree with you on the newcomer thing, but every gamer has his day. JSMaster almost beat Daigo at Canada Cup because he was in the zone and had a positive crowd backing him up. Obviously Daigo wasn't playing his best in this video, his risky reads didn't pay off.

The thing is, Evo is getting bigger each year. There are tons of great players out there that didnt have the time or means to make it to these tournaments the way Daigo or JWong or whoever can, but who may have been able to this year. Clearly, much to the dismay of his fans, Daigo isnt the best. Latif isnt either obviously, but the bottom line is, as time goes on, the top tier guys are going to get bumped aside by hungry newcomers. Thats just life, and I dont think its a bad thing.

@Akabane69 The last guy to win the WSOP main event two years in a row was Johnny Chan in 1987 and 1988. Since then, the event has EXPLODED, in no small part due to ESPN's coverage, and the number of people playing just gets larger and larger. How can anyone be that dominant when you have a field of 10k+? Eventually luck has to play a role.

What's this video have to do with anything? You're commenting about Viper as a fighter and saying you're a Daigo fan. What's the difference between Hadoken pressure and Fire kick pressure. If anything Hadoken pressure is safe and actually spammable.

@lordjimbo2 Well, I'm not sure how many people were in the SSFIVAE event (which I think we could all agree was the "main event" at EVO 2011), but I doubt it was anywhere near the 6,865 that showed up for WSOP 2011. Let's see what happens when EVO draws that many people yearly.
@lordjimbo2

@YukoAsho Or it could just be that poker isn't as skill-based as other tournaments. In fact, if you look at the WSOP, there's hardly any similarity in the top 20 from year to year, let alone the champion. Daigo, JWong and Tokido at least made it reasonably far this year; while I think that a lot of Japanese players are struggling with the Shoto nerfs, they'll still be around in the future since there isn't a lucky equalizer like cards being dealt.

I thought you were dedicated to Daigo, you do know he used to play Ryu, right? Seismos are really only good against projectile users,and Fire Kicks are blockable. I'm guessing you don't know how to play if pressure makes a fighter cheap.

@NeedaBettrName Yes to both. Daigo is one of the legends of the fighting game scene, but Yun is also grossly imbalanced in AE. He's getting SUPER nerfed in 2012.

Go into training mode, and try to copy what Latif is doing. Cr.Fierce seismic cancel into Cr.Fierce. It's actually a very hard link and Latif is 100% accurate in it. Not mindless at all.

@Zemogcram I don't know what a frame trap is but a frame is... think of it as a picture, each move you do is a picture. if you do a jab or a low punch, the moment you press it, a frame will activate which is called the starting frame then it will continue on to the hit frame where the hitbox or the body of the opponent collide and do damage, then after that the ending frame, where you return to your normal stance. I know its a little bit tricky, that's why Street Fighter is really hard to master

@Demoniq Heh, same thing happened to the World Series of Poker. As the event got more popular and more people started coming, the prospects for the established players making the main event final table, let alone winning, multiple times became more and more remote until it became an impossibility. I imagine the same will happen at EVO as the event gets ever larger.

really you think that matters for Daigo. He learns faster. He is a beast. He also has experince in 3. I know its different but you can clearly see how latif mixes up his game to win this... well i can. I cannot use c vipe at all. I have tried but she plays very different. He knows how to use her. He plays her right. He wins for a reason. Even with his ryu he would have had major problems. An honestly Yun has more of everything over ryu in 2011 priority and mixups.

Watching this video, Daigo took waaay too many chances with DP. that IMO was all Latif needed to see. i was suprised not because daigo lost, but how he lost.

yeah just like football basketball and soccer are games. and at least here we discuss them. in those other ones some paint faces, some spend countless dollars for jerseys of players that retired, and stadium riots go off at world cup titles. our "game" at least is a tad more civil. lol

@Demoniq yeah the hungry newcomers are powerful players but saying Daigo isn't the best, im not a fanboy but Daigo is certainly the best sf player to play the game, other than kuroda but he doesn't play much anymore. Even Fuudo, the winner of Evo said Daigo is the best there ever was, and surpassing her him is impossible. Just because he losses twice doesn't mean he isnt he best. wow now poongko is 1-46 against Daigo and Latif is probaly 4-1000 because they had played against each other a lot.

I can say Daigo spams fireballs, that doesn't mean it's true. You try playing Viper if it's so easy.
@ps7ykLiTT

Both of these players are great, there's no doubt about that..and yes it's true that Latif beat Daigo. However, when watching this match, you have to take into consideration that Latif has been playing Viper pretty much since she first appeared in SSF4 back in 2009 whereas, at the time of this competition, Daigo had barely started playing Yun a few months earlier. That's basically a two year character-playing difference. Who knows? Things might've been different if Daigo had stuck to Ryu.
@UnderwhelmingPlywood

Excuses. Daigo dominated w/ Yun in Vanilla AE. He destroyed everyone in Japan w/ Yun and practically all over the world & had the highest win percentage during this SF4 version. But when he loses to Latif here he's all of a sudden "not" good w/ Yun? Ridiculous. Yun was the Best Character in this ver. & Ryu was nerfed to less then mediocrity. Latif beating Yun here was because during this night, Latif outplayed Daigo, not because The Beast didn't choose Ryu.
