The Schuldiner influence is strong in this one. but stil distinctive progressed Sylosis. I love it. The older material sure seems more complex, but ASOTC is catchier and more to the point.

I like this joke a little too much haha 😂. Yep agreed Sylosis is much better, but Architects ain't bad either. Think it was more or less Josh helping some mates out after they lost Tom their guitarist, but also seeking a bit of recognition and money which there's nothing wrong with that either. Times are tough ey. But yea Josh is a serious talent, almost makes you mad when you see him play boring riffs, etc.

@@loganpriest6029as far as Im aware Tom personally requested Josh to be the stand in. Bums me out that he'd send over a bunch of riff ideas and they'd turn most of them down. I feel like Tom had a reason for asking Josh to step in specifically so it sucks that he wasn't utilized properly

@@djandrewification Yea and ik his Thrash style wouldn't of necessarily fitted or worked with the band. But if he did say more "death" style melodies that he's known for with the down tuning. Make the guitar playing more enticing like we know he's more than capable of, would've worked awesome. I'm not saying the guitar playing in Architects is bad really, just generic which is weird because Tom was kind of an "off the wall" guitarist coming up with lots of interesting shit.

love you guys, liked the album. hoping for you to go back to the longer songs and thrashier side again, please. i would love an album filled with songs like a godless throne. please do something like edge of the earth, but with upgraded style. i hope you don't stick to albums being barely 40 minutes long from now on. this was so short it was too easy to digest, which is not ideal. feeling bad writing this, but this is not your peak self in my opinion.

Do you maintain the same picking technique/pick angle when you’re not playing heavy music? I find that the slanted pick makes the attack too sharp and unpleasant (to my ear especially with low gain)

A year late but I’ve noticed he keeps his bottom fingers flared out when he’s playing loosely and closes them when being precise with the attack; giving a more flat angle. Still it should only matter what you feel is better; I use my fingers for clean stuff for a mellow sound.
