Sylvain Guintoli - can I catch the Moto GP test rider?

After replacing the broken engine on my BMW race bike, I took it to a track day at Donington Park for a shakedown - and who should I bump into, but my old mate Sylvain Guintoli!
The Suzuki Moto GP test rider and World Superbike Champion was there testing a special Hayabusa which has been released celebrating his efforts winning the 2021 World Endurance Championship for Suzuki, so when he took it for some hot laps, I thought I'd see if I could catch him.

He did well on a stock Busa on road tires TBF it's a heavy bike 260kg. Don't think it would be that close on similar bikes but he is a hell of a rider

If he was on his GSXR he would have destroyed me! He isn’t a Moto GP test rider because of his accent! Lol To do 1:39’s on a 260kg Busa with Road tyres is crazy! I can do 35’s on my bike….he would be 32/33’s!

Never seen a Hayabusa pushed so hard on track before.. 3.08 when he let the rear end slide under breaking ... As a Busa owner my self i know how hard this bike is to handle ..

It be nice! If they start a 1300cc motogp races 🏁. Would love to see what a Ducati, Mv Agusta, Aprilia, Ktm, Yamaha, Honda, BMW & Triump1300cc bike would look like on the race track 🏁! I bet those bikes would be so beautiful, especially "Ducati & Mv Agusta". Man I would ❤ to C that!

Yeah he was shifting on the thing! The laps later in the day were faster but we were just playing camera bike! He was very impressive on it!

The Busa has many problems on track. Everybody (rightfully) mentions its weight, but the ground clearance is a big issue as well.

My mate had the first busa from Suzuki through the motor bike shop he worked at and we spent the day destroying the tyres pegs exhausts and then it went back to Suzuki on the Monday.

Every time I see footage of Donington, all I can think of is Schwantz passing Rainey into The Old Hairpin and then absolutely doing him on the brakes at Melbourne.......seriously, it looked like he was passing me, not a 3x. Don't know if they both happened at same race. The Melbourne sexual assault was 91 though.

We were doing 39’s behind him and I was doing 36’s later in the day. On slicks he would have been closer but maybe 2 seconds, it’s still 260kg. If he was on his GSXR, he would have smoked me!!

Yeah the bike lacks some support for track work so falls through when he accelerates, but that helps grip!
