Mickey prequel...Gritty & no nonsense story about he's Boxing career. Set in during the Great Depression of the 1930's through WW2 & events leading up to him establishing the Gym & taking in a teenage Rocky.

But Mickey never took in a teen Balboa. That would be rewriting the Rocky story. No prequel. He was a fighter that was also the muscle for a loan shark.

@@n34z3r Yeah! You are correct Neil "Taking in" is the wrong choice of words. It suggests Balboa lived with Mickey from a young age. No what i really meant was we see events in Mickeys life & career as a Boxer then becoming Coach & eventually leading to Rocky's attendance at Mickey's Gym...the rest as they say is history.

The original rocky trilogy 1-4 will go down in history as a legacy of a boxer trying to make a difference from the streets of philadelphia and all he wanted is to see if he could go the distance, a true romance with Adrian who stood by his side no matter what happened she was there. Winkler may have done some things wrong along the way, or at least in Sly's mind he did. Maybe he did. I don't know. Even if that is the case, he can and should be grateful for Winkler because without him willing to take the chance, it might never have been made. At least, it wouldn't have been made as Stallone envisioned it or we may have seen another actor in the role. Winkler took out a mortgage on his house and assumed a lot of risk. If the movie flopped, Stallone would have just went back to being a struggling actor. No worse off than he was before. Winkler stood to lose a lot of money and possibly esteem in the business. Regardless of how their relationship turned out in subsequent years, Stallone does have a lot to be grateful for with Winkler.

Rocky has become an American cultural icon. I'd hazard a guess that even as a fictional character he's probably more popular than most real boxers. I've loved the films and the character since I was a kid, and that hasn't changed to this day. As long as they make a Rocky movie, I'll watch it. i think a really good story line would be to see someone coming up in the media attacking rocky as usual, and finding that clubber lang does not seem to care much for the attacker either. So in a surprise lang seeks out rocky and the two settle their differences. putting both their strengths together lang helps train rocky to defeat who they both despise. That would really bring back some great 80s nostalgia

Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of Sylvester Stallone, I feel his transition in Creed was the best way to go. Sylvester is now 76-years old. If this keeps up it will make Back To The Future joke seem true. And elderly man with boxing gloves 😂. Now before anyone get to upset with my comments let be realistic, Even though Rocky is a fictional character we still need a little element of believability. A 77-year old man in a boxing ring I don't think so, I mean come on he'll be pushing 80-years old by the time Rocky 7 comes out. FYI he was offered a part in Creed 3, he turned it down because he felt the part was too small for him. And Sylvester Stallone is still a producer on the movie. He should end it at Rocky 5, and continue the Rocky character in any future Creed movies or other spin offs. I feel this is the best way to keep his spirit alive.

Funny. The first thing I thought of when watching this was that Back to the Future 2 scene 😂 I agree. I love Rocky and are Stallones biggest fan. But, where does he go and what would the story be? There would have to be a fight and him mentoring someone would just be a re-tread of Creed. Rocky 6 was perfect as the final fight and getting rid of ‘the stuff in the basement’ and ended with a loss on points, which mirrored the first movie. But, the point wasn’t winning or losing. Then, we got to see him mentor another fighter and it was done pretty well. I love Rocky, and that’s why I don’t want to see it become a joke.

@@Timmypup Yes, my thoughts exactly. I feel he would be great continuing the role of Micky. Training Adonis or even his grandson. But as far as him fighting again no. Even in the Creed movie he told Donnie that he could never hold the pads like the other guys. In Rocky Balboa he had calcium deposits on his bones arthritis. I mean what next Rocky fighting from a rocking chair 🤣. I love Rocky and can "most of the lines from each movie I've seen them so many times. Rocky as a trainer or mentor is the best way to honor the character and legacy of Rocky.

Yeah, One can only suspend believe so far. Stallone is simply to old for Rocky to actively be in the Ring. The characters story has been told. Also continuous cameos in future Creed instalments will do nothing for the character either. That said Stallone should have an active role in the production of future story ideas with in the Balboa universe.

@@lenorawilson2326 totally agree and same as you, I’m a massive Rocky and Stallone fan. I’m even bold enough to state that the Rocky franchise (and later, becoming a fan of Stallone and his life philosophy) made me who I am. I actually was the skinny sickly kid who was bullied and beaten, and after seeing Rocky and becoming a big fan, I eventually became a champion martial artist and competitive bodybuilder. But, I was barely in double digits then (when Rocky was 30 - 40) and I’m almost 44 now, retired from fighting and my last bodybuilding competition is September before I fully retire. So, when I feel too old and Rocky is still fighting there’s a serious issue in my suspension of disbelief 😂 I’m kinda feeling Creed has run its course now too. I was actually surprised Creed 3 was good after the first movie (Rocky as mentor) and second movie (Drago redemption) story, I didn’t think there was anything they could do to with it. Creed 3 worked well with the ‘old friends’ story, but honestly is there anything that they could do now that hasn’t already been done? I’m also not a fan of how they re-wrote history so another ‘Creed’ could become a fighter and be mentored by Rocky, pretty much deleting his other kids from history and this convoluted affair and adoption thing. Creeds motivations as a rich kid who wants to be a boxer ‘like the Dad he never knew’ just didn’t do it for me, and the Drago vengeance thing didn’t feel like a strong enough story either, because of that. I think it’s time to wrap up, otherwise there’s going to be one piece of crap (either creed or Drago spin off) that just ruins it all. But, whilst there’s money to be made…

@@dtuk22 Yes I agree, I only wanted to give the beloved character as long as Sly was alive and well enough to participate an opportunity to stay involved. To share some of his wisdom with his fans. But yes Rocky retiring to the shallows is ok too. He has given the fans more than enough. I hear he's in talks with another Rambo. I think Sylvester Stallone is just trying to recapture his glory days, but in the process he's destroying to beloved characters in the process of not wanting to let go. Last Rambo should be just that, it could have ended with the Rambo before that was great...Idk we love you Sly but it's time to move on. He was really good in Tulsa King, I here season 2 was just given the green light so there you Sly.

Rocky saga movies are one of my favourite, if not my favourite movies of all time and i have my uncle to thank for introducing me to Rocky 1 , 2 and 3 (all started with Rocky 3 Movie actually then I watched them all over and over again, countless times) throughout my childhood all the way up to now, where im in my mid 30's (35 today to be exact) and still enjoy watching them , especially if i want to get motivated and inspired again. However ffs just let it go. Rocky movie saga ended in the best way and there is no need to make another Rocky movie as it wouldn't make sense , because you can correct me if I'm wrong here, but If i recall on creed 1 or 2 , Rocky said himself that he was diagnosed with cancer, so if they made it so Rocky wouldn't survive the cancer and wrote Rocky out of the creed movies then how can there be another Rocky movie if he was supposedly got terminal cancer or told creed he doesn't want no help or cure for his cancer if he could survive it? Just leave it alone now ffs , because this is only going to spoil the whole Rocky saga movies Franchise. It's not necessary to make another Rocky movie. Drago lost to Rocky in Rocky 4 end of , no need to make another pointless Rocky movie where drago beats rocky, Rocky won for a reason for his friend Apollo and Apollo's legacy , also to get revenge on drago for killing Rocky's friend Apollo in the ring.

Stallone made the best decision not going through with another Rocky movie. I love all of the Rocky movies (even #5) and #6 was supposed to be the last one. In Rocky 5 he was forced to retire cause of excessive brain damage and in Rocky 6 he is feeling that he was cut short of his career span as a Boxer so he returns to the ring for one last time. Let's not forget that he was 60years old at the time (2006) Imagine a new Rocky 7 with a near 80 year old Stallone(Rocky)... what for? I would watch it ofcourse, but I believe it will receive worse criticism than Rocky 5. For the Rocky character there's nothing more to prove. Rocky made his Final match in 2006 after that he becomes the trainer/manager of Adonis Creed, which is a perfect suited role for him at his age and the events in Rocky 6. In Creed 2 Rocky reunites with his son, and there is no sign of him in Creed 3 so either Rocky moved on with his life outside of Boxing or he died of old age. Either way Rocky was complete he has no unfinished business.

Henry Winkler and Irwin Winkler are not related, but they have something in common. Stallone worked with both men. Henry starred in a 1974 film called "The Lords Of Flatbush" together. In fact, Henry Winkler copied a lot of Stallone's mannerisms from LOF.
