ROCKY BALBOA (Rocky VI) is by far the best film in the series along w/ the first. It is perfect I attended it w/ my girlfriend as a boxer my whole life just to see it. Never expected to love it as much as Cinderella Man By the time the fight starts, Mason breaks his hand, the "Conquest" theme starts & Duke gives him the motivational speech i was on my feet like a nut in the theater When Mickey says "Get up you son of a bitch because Mickey loves you" i wept for the first time in ages and began screaming at the screen like i was at one of my teammates fights It is a remarkable film The human spirit defined

When I was a kid I thought Apollo was the antagonist in Rocky, as I got older I realized I was wrong. Apollo and Rocky are actually the same man at different stages of their lives. Both are honorable men, who came from absolutely nothing, and scratched and clawed their way to the pinnacle of success through sheer force of will. Success for both men was a double edged sword because with that success came a loss of the hunger which drove them to greatness. In other words, success bred failure. The challenge for both men was to reclaim their greatness by finding a new hunger born from their individual falls from greatness. Apollo lost to Rocky and Rocky lost to Clubber Lang. In Rocky 2, Rocky became the character that Apollo was in Rocky 1.

I'd like to share a thought about Sylvester Stallone's recent comment on films of the '70s being statements from writers. While he humbly downplayed Rocky as not being a statement, I firmly believe his masterpiece is so much more than that. The Rocky Saga is a guiding philosophy for life! It's a powerful reminder to never give up, to draw strength from our struggles, and to rise above adversity. Rocky's journey teaches us to embrace our underdog spirit, to persevere with grit and determination, and to find triumph in our triumphs. It's a testament to the human spirit that transcends generations. So let's celebrate Rocky as not just a film, but a way of life - a philosophy that inspires us to be our best selves and face our challenges with courage and resilience. 👊🏻🤜💥🤛👊🏻

@jareddoesstuff3588 ай бұрын
Sly is too hard on Rocky 5. I know that he used that as his motivation to do Rocky Balboa. But I think Rocky 6 actually has more issues from a film making perspective. There are too many long winded monologues that take you out of the story and lessen the realism, whereas Rocky 5's is more smooth and natural sounding. Rocky Balboa also has a ton of unfortunate edits that cut out key scenes which just make a few scenes slightly confusing and not flow very well. I loved Rocky Balboa the first time I saw it, and I used to hate Rocky 5 because he never truly boxed in it. But I recently rewatched the series from a fresh perspective and funnily enough Rocky Balboa is really low on my tier list, being edged out by both Creed and Rocky 5.
